@Wynn and All,
I've been with Nirvana since 1995 and VectorVest since about 1998 or 2000, don't recall exact date. Both have strong and weak points but Nirvana is --way--ahead. I will be posting comparisons and observations how we can benefit here and I hope (beg) that Nirvana will continue to allow this thread. As Wynn related, the VV timing system is remarkably simple and effective. A similar market timing system can be set up easily in OT with publicly available data and I will share that in my next post. While VV is very much apples to oranges compared with OT and especially with OV it is all about a scheme to select profitable trades and timing is crucial. IMHO, VectorVest’s greatest attribute is its simplicity while Nirvana’s is its capability and configurability. More later.

Ed Downs has done something remarkable here in that while Nirvana has introduced OV he has invited users to submit on competing products. A careful reading of Ed’s invitation post shows that he recognizes there is a lack of competing “profile of strategies” products so, as I understand, he is inviting input about products that generally compete with Nirvana. I think that shows that Ed and crew have confidence and commitment in all their products especially OV.

Wynn, All, & FORUM MODERATOR,

I was preparing to submit a market timing system that I believe would help OT and OV members and decided to re-read Ed Downs initial post reference "competitors" and now I request clarification. VectorVest is a competitor to Nirvana but NOT to OmniVest directly, only indirectly, if that. It is very different from OV. It is not a portfolio of strategies in the sense that OV is. Ed is familiar with VV. Is VV what he had in mind reference competitors, or not? Does he want to focus on only portfolio of strategies competitors?

Perhaps this thread would be a better fit in another forum but I am unfamiliar with any other forums. HOWEVER, Wynn's point about knowing the market trend direction or phase will still be very important even while trading with OV.

Note: I would not think of discussing or posting proprietary VV information any more than I would do so with Nirvana proprietary info. Publicly available information would be used and with a focus toward helping OV members in this forum.

Thanks for making that clear, James. We at Nirvana know of VectorVest very well as it is one of our major competitors. But you're right, Ed created this forum specifically for OmniVest competitors.
