Folks...

Changes were deployed yesterday that have generated more than a few comments in the Forums! My apologies for the sudden change - I definitely should have made an announcement before it went live. I wanted to come on this morning to explain why the changes were made. We are open to feedback and can adjust things as requested. First, here's why the change was made...

We have 2 versions of OmniVest - the original and AutoVest. The changes you see are the result of pulling the AutoVest version over. However, we reviewed the feedback this AM, which was good, and have already decided to do the following:

1. Provide a "Printable View" on Settings so you can see all the settings and print them out or capture them.

2. Revert the Trades Page back to the "full view" rather than "tabbed view".

A few points that may help...

A. The Portfolios page was eliminated because all the same information is now in Explore Portfolios. In fact, it's better because it's sortable and shows additional statistics. Hopefully users agree!

B. The Strategies page is now called "Strategy Library." You can still build Portfolios from Strategies by going there. Strategy Lab still works as before. We have no plans to change any of that.

We think the primary benefit of the change is the "menu" across the top, that flows from Explore to Account. This is for the benefit of new users. Other changes are designed to clean up the platform, again primarily for new users. HOWEVER, we are glad to make the above adjustments quickly as a result of your good feedback and will continue to do so in coming weeks. We want the platform to work well for all users.

Good afternoon Ed,

I think we all appreciate that this new layout could be easier for a newcomer, but if this the correct thread to suggest things I have a request for the new Explore Portfolios page.

The sorting capability is nice, but the sorting dropdown list doesn't allow for an easy way to find a particular Portfolio without the ability to sort by name.

I think it also might be more "user friendly" if it followed the order of the presentation of statistics across the header row & allowed for sorting on all those statistics...???

Thanks for being open to suggestions,
Mark

Understand desire to simplify, all for it and like some of the changes. However, is there a place where we should note problems? Some functions have been eliminated that were created to address issues in past. Off the top:

Cannot modify existing Accounts
- one early on suggestion from Nirvana was create a 'base' account, never delete and build from it (and maybe Import settings from) especially for Portfolio Balancer created accounts. I cannot understand how to access any Accounts now. If I select an existing account and go back to Configure account, I'm presented your default account settings, and the last built account's portfolios.

- If pushing the new menu flow, at least allow users to set their personal default account settings instead of your defaults. Forced default account settings forces everyone to repopulate personal account settings over and over. If I remember correctly, the Import button was created to help address the specific problem in the past.

Keeping the ability to alter simulation Start and End dates is important, to me at least. I believe most power users liked to vary simulation dates?
- Maybe put a simulation Start and End dates tab on Settings?

Glad to expound further why these provide value.

This should be getting added back, probably today/tomorrow.

One thing that was nice on the old trades page was the account drop down - for those of us running more than one live trading account.

The old Trades page has been restored. The account can be changed at the top of the page with the ... button.

Ed,

Could you say a little more about the objective for doing this. Is the objective to have a single code baseline for both AutoVest and OmniVest or were you just trying to pull over some features that had been implemented for TradeKing and you will continue to maintain two baselines.

It's useful to know this so we can make more helpful suggestions.

Steve

Barry,

While the old Trades page has been restored, it doesn't contain any Current Price data. The Current Price for all open positions is $0.00 and Current P/L % is -100.00%

Account is "IB Live MH ETF LS"

Barry,

I logged out, restarted the browser (Firefox), and logged back in and the price data was displayed correctly. Before, I had just started up the browser and logged in and the price data wasn't there so maybe there is some intermittent issue. Will keep an eye on it.

If you are planning to change from tabbed account settings back to having them all on one page then what you've done with the Simulation Start/End dates is fine. If not then they don't belong in the Exposure tab. They have nothing to do with exposure. They should either be under the Account Settings tab or better yet in a new tab called "Simulation"

As of Friday afternoon, I haven't been able to obtain any Historical Positions.

I'm using Chrome & will update this post if I find I can get them with another browser.

With other browsers (Firefox and Safari) I have the same problem.

I show no Trading Metrics on the Accounts page, but I can get The Metrics and the trades (either the "Top 100" or "All Trades") by using the "Export" function...

When creating a new account - have we lost the ability to select a specific "Trading Start Date"? and also a specific "Trading Starting Balance"?

I hope not, because I have found this capability to be very helpful for building and testing portfolios on specific date ranges and extended timeframes.

Am I missing something?

And really need the date range ability (why buried in exposure?)
Thx

still looking for how to change "Trade Starting Balance"

The Simulation Starting Balance field got lost in the site update. We need to add it back. Trading Starting Balance & Trading Current Balance are there & have not changed (the Trading Starting Balance is only entered during account creation).

Sorry Barry...

I tried deleting all my cache(s) and tried Chrome, Firefox, and Safari (also rebooted my Mac after all that) and I'm still getting no Historical Positions.

Am I the only one with this? Can others chime in if you're having a problem or not please...???

Thanks,

Mark,
I sometimes do and sometimes don't get Simulated Historical Trades in my "Tradable" accounts. But I don't get ANY Simulated Historical Trades in my "NON-Tradable" accounts. Did we use to get Simulated Historical Trades in "NON-Tradable" accounts?

When you posted a short while ago, I went to my Tradable accounts, and no simulated trades were displayed. So, I logged out, and then logged in. And, simulated trades are now displayed, but ONLY in my Tradable accounts.

Mark - I also discovered that I can get the simulated trades to display for a tradable account, when they are NOT displayed, by doing a refresh. I've verified that behavior with both Edge and Chrome. But no trades shown for non-tradable accounts, even with a refresh.

I reproduced it, Mark. It has that behavior on some accounts, but not all. I reported it. I think it's accounts that have at least one strategy set to automatically Enter Positions/Close Positions with a condition.

Hi Barry,

Thanks - but it's happening on all my Accounts and only 1 has anything with a condition on it so I don't think you need to go down that path.

And thanks to everyone else for posting their experiences with it too.

I would suggest you get rid of the Commissions tab and move Commissions under the simulation tab since commissions only apply to simulations. Will be less confusing this way.

And also, any changes made to settings in the Simulation tab should NOT cause live trades to be regenerated since these settings only impact the simulation.

Please have someone run Windows 10 in high contrast mode and make sure the web application is useable. For instance, the highlight showing which account is currently selected doesn't work in HCM. (I do appreciate the Account: field at the top of the page that clarifies it...) The simulated equity curve should be white on black in HCM. Etc. I haven't checked all the nooks and crannies for other places where HCM might not work so well.

Please consider an Accounts Setting report that pulls together all the various and sundry settings that are now spread across multiple tabs in the Settings dialog. I really like the new Settings UI, but it's harder to snag the settings for future reference.

Further, I have used Import settings a lot in the past. It appears to be deprecated. Too bad. But a report would make it easier to manually perform an Import Settings...

Thanks for your consideration.

Cheers

The issue with Simulated trades not showing is fixed. Now the Simulated trades will display when clicking the View All or View 100 Most Recent buttons.

Additionally, the old Portfolios page has been restored. It may be accessed by clicking Tools -> Portfolio Library.

Any chance Stability and Consistency (the Explore Portfolio "Stats" view) will be added to the Portfolio Library? It would be nice to see these metrics based on our personal Test Settings.

Well there isn't a way to recalculate Simulation only, that would be a big change. The real issue, & has been since OmniVest's inception, is that when using a TP, live opening orders that have not yet been executed to OmniVest are affected by account changes. We've discussed ways to improve it or at least warn the user, but we haven't done anything yet. I agree we definitely need a change for this.

I also will frequently import settings from an existing account. It would be nice if this capability could be restored.

It will be, only a matter of time.

This is on the list of things to definitely do as well to allow users to see all the settings on one form.
