Custom Scans |

Vinay![]() Posts: 640 Joined: 12/9/2011 Location: Planet Earth ![]() | The custom scans which are made from "My Symbols" list in a Profile (Say Profile "A") are also visible in all other profiles. Is is OK to run updates to custom scans which were created in Profile "A" from other Profile (Say Profile "B")? If yes then will there be any issue if the symbols in Profile "A" are different from symbols in Profile "B"? Moreover is it OK to use custom scans created in Profile "A" in Profile "B" if the those profiles have different symbols? BTW the OmniScan manual has become completely outdated after its enhancement in OT-2015 & OT-2016. The manual needs to be updated.

You need to be in Profile "A" to update custom scans that were created from the My Symbols list in Profile "A". You can access & use Profile "A" custom scans in Profile "B" though. Yes, the OmniScan manual needs updating for sure.

Vinay![]() Posts: 640 Joined: 12/9/2011 Location: Planet Earth ![]() | Barry...Thanks for the clarification. Unfortunately OT doesn't seems to be behaving as intended. When I select the custom scan (in the present case "Price & Volume") which I created in another EOD profile, the Name column shows the Names only in those cases where the relevant symbols were also in the current profile. However the Names of the symbols which were not in the current profile are not shown. I think the source of this problem is also same as the problems reported in the following post: http://www.omnitrader.com/currentclients/otforum/thread-view.asp?threadid=10130 In the above image the symbols "ARVIND"..."ACC" were already in the current profile before the custom scan "Price & Volume" was added to it. However the symbols marked in red box were not there before the custom scan was added to it. The data used here is MetaStock EOD for Indian Markets. ![]()

I suspect it might be due to the fact that "Stocks.OTD" file located at "C:\Program Files\Nirvana\OmniData\IN" doesn't save Name,Open,High,Low,Close etc in its database, whereas the corresponding file for US which is located at "C:\Program Files\Nirvana\OmniData\US" have these data stored in it in the Symbols Table.

Barry, It appears that after OT-2020 PR-2H things have changed. Now custom scans can be not only be accessed from Profile "B" but can be updated also. In fact while accessing custom scans from another Profile OT automatically updates them. We don't have any control over it. |
