Hi Barry,

I'm getting quite annoyed with the new email requirements while using Autotrade. This morning I was testing a strategy in a 5M intraday stock profile. Once the 'Max Percente Equity' value was maxed out, I started to receive emails like this one;

<(Strategy), Error: CHK Qty=2604.662, Price=3.84625005722046: Max Percent Equity (90%) reached. PrevInvested=90032.66, BrokerCurrentEquity=100181.81.>>

I understand the need to get notified whenever this occurs. However, the way it is set up now, I get an email for each rejected signal that appears in the Focus List. I actually received as many as 20 of these emails per hour today...

Instead of individual emails for each rejected signal, I suggest that just one general email is issued once the available equity has been exhausted.

I can understand your frustration there. I'll discuss with development to see what we can do to improve that.

Hi Barry,

Just wondering whether this issue will get resolved?

All these useless emails appear on my cell phone as well, gobbling up data usage.

It's something that I hope we can improve, but with the OT2018 upgrade being worked on, there aren't any resources available to work on it. If you're getting too many emails, I would suggest a couple possible solutions for now.

- In your email settings set up a rule where all your OT emails go to a specific folder. That way your normal Inbox isn't affected.

- Set up another email address. Like many email providers, it's extremely easy to create a new one. Hotmail for example allows you to create a new email address pretty fast, then you just tell OT to point to that address & these settings:

smtp.live.com
Port: 587
Enable SSL

The caveat is that you probably won't see the alerts as quickly when you do actually need to see them. But you can always check your new email account whenever you need using any device that can access a website.

Hi Barry,

Yes, I have been thinking of creating an internet email address for this purpose. Creating a specific folder is not an option as it will still hit my cell phone usage...

Anyhow, I think intraday traders should be able to opt out if it. I mean, what are the chances that day traders also have a day job, which happens to be away from the trading computer? Bottom line is that I don't need to be notified every time that my Max Percent Equity has been reached. This stuff should perhaps get logged elsewhere.

As soon as I'm allowed to divulge that, I will. :)

I am unable to get any of my emails to work so that I can use autotrade. Outlook, Gmail or hotmail and all variations of mail server and port.

Mesages for Failed to send and secure connection required.

Any suggestions or does it not work in 2017 2Q?

Hi LSJ,

It does work, and I have tried it on a couple of different email providers.

Hover the mouse over the 'Test' button, and a list of various email providers will pop up together with the appropriate settings. If yours isn't listed, just google for SMTP server and Port etc.

Exactly what John said. See this post for Gmail & Yahoo though as they may take a little extra effort.
