OmniFund was supposed to be an standalone software when it was originally conceived couple of years ago. It was initially developed on VT platform and now it is web based. I have few questions regarding OmniFund.

1. Whether Nirvana still has plans to develop standalone version of OmniFund? The web based OmniFund doesn't support International markets. So are we out of luck as far as OmniFund is concerned?

2. Is the OmniFund still fully functional on VT? If yes, does it have full functionality of web version? Does Nirvana has any plans to develop it further? For last couple of years we have not heard anything about further development of VT and/or VT based OmniFund.

Hi Vinay,

I don’t presume to answer for Nirvana but, I asked similar questions at the Bash.

One way that Omnifunds could support international markets or, at least international IB accounts, would be to have the current web version support the stand alone trade processor as Omnivest does. I was told that would not be particularly difficult to do since trade processing is very similar in each of products. If Nirvana follows through on getting the Omnifunds RIA exception for the Canadian market then this functionality will be a big bonus and the rest of the world will be an added bonus.

Using the trade porcessor would also provide the side benefit of supporting independent sub-accounts on IB that the neither web version does today.

I would support any efforts to get this implemented. I can’t comment on VT development other than a promise that the Omnifunds functionality would not be deprecated.

1. The stand alone version is the web version - https://www.myomnifunds.com. There aren't any plans to make a stand alone desktop version.

2. Yes, but there aren't any current plans to develop it further. As far as functionality, that's a difficult question to answer. There are likely some things you can do on the web version that you can't in VT (and vice versa), but it was designed with VT's settings & configuration in mind.
