ATM RS Boost FAQ: 1. How do I know if I have ATM4 & ATM RS Boost registered? Both ATM4 & ATM RS Boost will be listed under Help -> About. If they are not there click Help -> Registration followed by Get My CDKeys. 2. How do I know if I have ATM4 & ATM RS Boost installed? Both ATM4 & ATM RS Boost install separate manuals. Click Help -> Manuals & you should have manuals for ATM User Guide & ATM RS Boost User Guide. 3. Why is the Run Scan Dynamically setting greyed out in the ToDo List? When using the analysis setting in the ToDo List to run analysis tasks on all lists in this profile, there must be a scan set to Dynamic prior to opening the ToDo List. - A scan must be enabled in the Profile. - The scan must be selected as the active list in the Profile. - Right-click anywhere in the Focus List & select "Set as Dynamic Scan." 4. How do I make a scan Dynamic? Select a scan at the top of your Focus List so that it's the active list. Then right-click anywhere in the Focus List & select "Set as Dynamic Scan." 5. How to tell if a scan is Dynamic? When a scan is Dynamic, you can select the scan as the active list at the top of your Focus List & it will show the title in blue instead of yellow. 6. When I right-click in the Focus List, "Set as Dynamic Scan" is not an option. It will not be an option if: - The active list in the Profile is not a scan. - The active list in the Profile is already set to Dynamic, in which case the title should be blue. - The scan uses a Fundamental criteria that is not supported historically. 7. Why do no stocks show up for the ATM RS Boost scan? It shows 0 stocks because there are no stocks passing the scan today. This can change any day though. 8. What list should be selected at the top of the Focus List when I run my ToDo List? It doesn't matter what list you're viewing when you run the ToDo List or AutoTrade, but the All Analyzed Symbols list is recommended since it will allow you to view results from both lists at the same time. 9. When I run Portfolio Simulation on ATM RS Boost, the results are not even close to the marketing material results. There are many things that can contribute to Portfolio Simulation results not being close. Here are the most common reasons. - ATM4 or ATM RS Boost is not registered. See #1. - If you modified the method, scan, strategies, or profile in some way that changes the results from the default settings. If you think you may have, these files may be deleted, then reinstall ATM RS Boost. - The ATM RS Boost scan must be selected & set as a Dynamic scan prior to running the ToDo List. See #3-6 above. - In an early version of the RS Boost scan there was a parameter that was later changed. Follow this to fix it. a. Open OmniScan & select ATM RS Boost. b. For the 2nd criteria, you want to change two values from 3 to 5. It will show this: AVG(RSB_ACC(14,5,"SPY"),3) > AVG(RSB_ACC(14,5,"SPY"),3)[1] Change it to this: AVG(RSB_ACC(14,5,"SPY"),5) > AVG(RSB_ACC(14,5,"SPY"),5)[1] c. Click the "Update List Now" button. d. Exit OmniScan & run your ToDo List. - Under Edit -> Data Settings -> Advanced -> Stocks tab, make sure for OmnData Stocks that Automatic Split Adjustment is enabled & Automatic Dividend Adjustment is disabled. - Under Tools -> Options -> Data, make sure Filter Data of Possible Bad Bars or Ticks is enabled. - If you still cannot find the cause, try reinstalling OmniData using the latest installation. We update our OmniData installs every few months. 10. Why do some trades from the HighFlyers market state last for so long? Trades from HighFlyers can last a while sometimes due to the loose stops in the ATM RS Boost LP Runners trade plan. 11. Why are there old trades in the Open Positions report in Portfolio Simulation? First, the Port Sim test period is fixed, so the end date does not include any trades further than March 2021 unless you modify it to include a test period beyond March 2021. Secondly, the HighFlyers market state submits trades using a trade plan that can have long term trades, & they will only close out when the trade plan's stops are triggered. 12. Does ATM RS Boost only trade Mondays & Fridays? Currently the HighFlyers market state isn't active, but will be when the VIX index meets this condition: AVG(L,5) > 25. You can add a color chart for that if you want to see it. When that is active, trades & exits can occur any trading day of the week, otherwise ATM RS Boost will only enter trades at the start of the week & exit trades at the end of the week. 13. How do I set up AutoTrade for trading ATM RS Boost? Open the ATM RS Boost User Guide & view Page 7 for instructions. 14. What list should I use to AutoTrade? ATM4 gives the ability to have an ATM method's market states set to individual lists. ATM RS Boost is preconfigured already, so it will trade the correct lists for you if using all the default settings. 15. Why aren't any signals showing in the ATPos column? The AutoTrade Position column is a special column that will only show signals if a Portfolio Simulation method is used to trade with & ATM has passed trades through from Portfolio Simulation. If you don't use AutoTrade & you run ATM RS Boost, the ATPos column will display signals identical to the open positions found at the end of the Portfolio Simulation trade report. The ideal & typical way to use the ATPos column for signals is to use AutoTrade. If AutoTrade is ran between market close of the last trading day of the week & the first trading day's market open, the ATPos column should populate the new signals to take for the week. If you miss the first day of the week & instead run AutoTrade on Wednesday, it will not show new signals. If HighFlyers is in effect though, a new signal may show in the ATPos column any day of the week. See #12. 16. How can I trade ATM RS Boost manually? If you're trading manually through an unsupported broker, it is recommended to use OT's Paper broker & start with a new account with the exact equity value that you want to use from your broker & use AutoTrade to trade into it. Then you can view the Paper Portfolio's orders to see what stocks & trade sizes to place at your broker. On Friday's it will place market on close orders for any trades that are not in HighFlyers & those will also show in the portfolio's orders tab. This would be a manual trader's daily routine after setting up the Paper Portfolio & AutoTrade. a. Run AutoTrade at least 30min before market open or the evening before. b. Check the Paper Portfolio's Open Orders tab for any new orders. Submit each new order manually at your broker. This step will handle both entry & exit orders. c. On the last day of the week (usually Friday unless there's a Friday holiday), during market hours run AutoTrade's "Update Portfolio" function. This will run the ToDo List & trigger the RS Boost stop for all active trade plans from the Steady_Gains & Nasdaq100 market states. It's set to Market on Close, so the market needs to be open for brokers to accept it. After AutoTrade completes you should see the MoC orders in your Paper Portfolio. Since you're trading manually you can submit those MoC orders any time you want at your broker as long as it's after market open & at least 20 minutes or so before market close. |
