Once I've got some time away from paid devel projects, I'll post it in the TradeTight forum. The article does not define any specific trading strategy. There are a million ways this could be used. Essentially its a sophisticated substitute for other types of moving averages. A "strategy" must include logic that says how to evaluate the MA to create entry and exit signals. A note about Ehlers indicators: They are most definitely "cool". They apply signal processing rules from elec engineering to help extract the "obscured" core price movement from the noise. That is very useful. But - Ehlers' writings seem to be *mostly* about refining the way of "seeing" the price data - and not much about what to do with that info once you have it. I believe it has some value but I also believe that the *logic* used with that refined value, to ferret out good entries and assure excellent exits, is by far the most important thing. That's what makes a good strategy. So, I suggest that the key to good strategy development is to first come up with a good idea about what logic you want to use, get it working in a simple form to visualize and test it, then if that set of rules seems to work well, move on to refining it with nifty stuff like the Ehlers indicators. Indicator nuances can be beneficial. But its how you *use* them that makes or loses you money. | |
