Fellow OT Enthusiasts:

Attached please find John F. Ehler's Trendflex Indicator as described in the February, 2020 issue of "Technical Analysis of Stocks & Commodities" in his article "Reflex: A New Zero-Lag Indicator" on pages 6 -8 and 21.

It is suggested in the Microsoft Excel commentary in the Traders' Tips section on p. 53 of that issue that "the Trendflex indicator seems better at recognizing enduring trends". The author also suggests that crossover points at zero might be useful as trading signals.

Give it a try on your favorite instruments - I think you will like it.

Fellow OT Enthusiasts:

It was late last evening when I finally finished coding and posting the Ehlers Trendflex Indicator.

So here is how it looks on OmniTrader using Color Charts to show zero crossovers:

Here is how it looked in the article for comparison:

And here it is color-coded in the Traders Tips Excel area:

I think you would agree that it keeps you on the right side of the trend.

FYI, I just installed and compiled the indicator and it is fine. I did a cut and paste from the text file Tom provided.

Thanks Tom.

Hi, Tom

Thanks for posting this. Please see attached file, which has some small If/Then tweaks related to bar-lookbacks. No change to actual formulae.

Thanks for all your work - and especially for sharing this Tom.
Sure makes it easier when we work together...

BTW: thanks for the update, too, Jim.
However, I wanted to let folks know that (at least with OT2020 2D), the file name with the dash in it won't compile.

Just remove the dash in the file name and it works great.

Hope it's a good weekend coming up for everyone,
Mark

Good catch, Mark ... sorry about that. I just edited it in NotePad and hadn't actually compiled it.

In place of the dash, an underscore "_" could be used if desired :~)

Jim...I think underscore in the file name is also not allowed.

Ehlers has a habit of coding indicator with little loops, which I think are confusing and slower. Here are Ehlers' trendflex and reflex indicators with looping removed, and plotted in a style I find more useful.

Hi All,

Thanks for sharing the codes. Is there a way both Reflex and Trendflex can be combined to plot into one indicator.

It'd be nice to see both plots of Reflex as the cycle component showing major reversals, while Trendflex shown as the trend component from the same indicator pane.

Thanks.

Thank You Thomas. I wish Nirvana would post code from TASC like they did in the early years.

... more viewership, audience, and free marketing to the world ... and the code pops up in google search results. Nice bang for no bucks -:), unless N has to pay to insert the code for each publication... TASC may count possibly as an Ad-display.

It was Jeremy Williams who used to post code in TASC. After his departure couple of years ago no one has come to step into his shoes.

Thank you to Thomas and Mel for sharing the coding.

I support as well the postings by several forum members reflecting the free publishing of TASC codes by Nirvana for indicators/strategies published by TASC as done in the past by Jeremy Williams

Hi Thomas, thank you for this. Can you help us out with the color coding of the chart (background colors red/green) - how?

Kasper:

Sure, no problem.

Attached is the Chart Template I show way above in this thread.

Just download it and copy it into your OT2021 ChartTemplates Folder and then start OT up and select it as your active template on your price chart.
