Post #16098

I started a project last night which seemed simple: I started reviewing all of the Threads since the inception of the OmniLanguage Forum. The goal was to get myself up to speed on the last 4 years worth of discussion and cherry pick whatever seemed notable.

Necessarily this required a lot of skimming so I am sure that I missed some posts/threads that were important, but I did find a treasure chest of information.

I started cutting, pasting and hyper-linking everything that caught my eye. Attached is the document that catalogs the work (two Word formats). I hope that this Glossary will help others who are trying to understand the plethora of topics that have been discussed. I will likely spend some time organizing and alphabetizing this documents and will post any updates as they are finishes.

Apologies to those who wrote worthy posts that I may have missed! Also, I started from square one so some posts are dated and changes to OT may make some of these posts moot or N/A.

If you are looking for something specific, don't forget the Search function, not to mention the Nirvana site for Indicators, Stops and Systems: http://www.omnitrader.com/prosi/

BTW: This was not very simple...my head is spinning after 8 hours of this...

Thanks for doing this, Rob ... I hope that N will springboard from it and maintain an index like this in the future. Barry/Matt ... this seems worth "thumbtacking".

Rob,
It's hard to believe you could have done this in only 8 hours. Thanks so much for assembling so many things into such a small document.

Gary,
It was snowing outside that day and I got into a zone. I am glad you liked it even though I thing it could be a lot better. Ideally, it would be in html or Excel format and the links would include the downloads of indicators, strategies and stops as well as some commentary.
Frankly, I am still going through the document myself so the saga continues. The eight hours was mostly a scan and skim to see what resonated. That process was perhaps more valuable than the content although there are some gems embedded in that sheet.

My general perceptions may be of interest:
1. Traders don't need any more oscillators
2. Entries are insignificant compared to exits; so much so that I think you could throw a dart on the entry and succeed with well managed exits.
3. There are few limits to what can be programmed (especially if your initials are JD)
4. In most cases, simplicity trumps complexity
5. Most systems and indicators seem to be "late."

Anyway, thanks for your post....

Rob

I trying to get up to speed on OL, but the links seem to be broken since Nirvana started their new website. Is there a methodology to convert the old links to the new links?

Thanks in advance.

John,
Try replacing "/omnitrader/" with "/currentclients/".

Example:
http://www.omnitrader.com/omnitrader/proforum/thread-view.asp?threadid=1032&&posts=14

becomes:
http://www.omnitrader.com/currentclients/proforum/thread-view.asp?threadid=1032&&posts=14

I've attached an edited version of Rob's original document with updated links.
