I cannot get portfolio information, trading records, etc. in OT Pro. I Must get all trading records directly from TWS, IB software. Is this problem isolated to me, or is this a problem for all IB users? It is more than annoying not to be able to see active trading records directly using OT Pro, as designed. With fast moving mkts it is difficult to monitor several different software programs. Have called support, but not received any answers, other than the portfolio portions of OT Pro do not work with IB. Please help or advise. Thank you in advance.

Hi TWT That's by design for IB. The system assumes that you always have TWS open and thus no need to have it in OT. Hope it helps

Thank you so much for the info. Prior descriptions of OT and IB, provided by Nirvana, show integration of IB trade records into the portfolio data of OT. Perhaps updates or newer versions eliminated such?? While I like the size, speed and SS stock availability in IB, no integrated records does bother me.

Hi, Tom Are you saying that when you click View > Portfolio and select the IB account, you don't see any activity on any of the tabs? I'm pretty sure that OT only keeps track of the trades initiated BY OT ... if you manually trade via TWS, I don't think it tracks those. The interaction between OT and the brokerage is btw a very messy thing for N to program, and a pain to keep up with. So, somewhat limited functionality is probably a "protective" measure. My guess is that with all the work they've done and will continue doing on the Trade Processor for OmniVest, eventually the Integrated Brokerage feature in OT will be enhanced. Just think of OmniVest like the NASA program ... except, profitable!

Jim, Thank you so much for the response. I read all of your posts, and appreciate any time you might have. When trading with OT Pro, using IB, with the TWS broker software running, or for that matter, IB Gateway, when I use RTX3 for trading, with trades completed, sent by OT to the IB broker for execution, the trades are properly executed by IB, but the historical list of trades, which are designed to be recorded and listed in the portfolio tab of OT, will not be shown. When I attempt to access the "Portfolio", properly referenced to the correct trade account in Account settings, virtually nothing shows. Notta. Nothing. When the Portfolio Icon on the Tool Bar in OT Pro is accessed, again, nothing. To get any listed records of trading completed by and through the OT Pro, you must go to the IB TWS software, and review trade records provided by the brokerage. These trade records are NOT records of trades completed through direct placement in the IB software, which I have not completed. All of my 100 or so trades yesterday, all autotraded, completed by OT Pro, using OmniPilot, are not listed, or otherwise available for review, except by going to IB TWS, and reviewing the trades with their software. Unless I am not configuring software correctly, this limitation is considerable for active trading. Is anyone aware of a way to configure OT Pro, where so called "virtual" program generated trades triggered by OT Pro strategies in an active profile will show in the Portfolio section of OT Pro, as it to my understanding, is the way the software is designed? In case I am not being clear, none of my trades were executed by me directly through the IB software; all were initiated through OT Pro. My best regards, Tom

This sounds like something that Barry can help you with. He will be able to sleuth-out the discombobulation and get it working all hunky-dory for you. (hope you don't mind all that technical jargon)

Jim, thanks once again. I hope Barry can add some insight into the problem. I really like the speed of execution, and availability of most stocks for shorting, and brokerage security related to size, but lack of ability to directly review trades in OT Pro,using the Portfolio tab, while using IB brokerage for OT generated trades, is a real drawback for very active trading, making a mess of review of records, particularly in real time, and more so if trades are being placed every minute or two, or more frequently. I also appreciate your following Einstein's advice on giving people explanations on complex issues: " Make explanations as simple as possible, but no simpler". If complexity is needed, so be it. Hi TWT I had the same issue that you are having - because it was stated in the manual. But Barry explained to me that for IB they took that out. I know Barry will explain more, but I know is not a bug.

Duxx, Once again, I very much appreciate your advice. I suspect I will need to change brokers if I desire this functionality, which I suspect I will. My best regards, TWT

Hi Twt, IB has a section titled "Delivery Settings for Activity Statements and Trade Reports" On this page you can set your notification preferences for Activity Statements and Daily Trade Reports. Don't know if this will meet your immediate report needs I found I had to spend a fair amount of time listening to IB seminars. Still need to spend a little more time My recent concern which I have noted in OT seminars / manuals is their (IB)limitation at times on shorts (http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/trading/ViewShortableStocks.php?cntry=usa&tag=United%20States&ib_entity=llc&ln=&asset). To date I have not experienced shorting problems - but then my short orders have been rather small Make sure TWS is now Version 939.3. This recent upgrade caught me "off guard" Thought I would just mention it.

Twt, Meant to include this in my post above: "to download daily IB activity statements in excel format, log into Account Management > Reports >Activity > Downloads > select Excel and click on downloads" Good luck

If OT/VT is connected to IB, the Portfolio within OT/VT is not used & attempts to open it does nothing. It has always been this way.

I would like to thank all for their assistance. I am getting up to speed, and hope in the near future to be able to return what assistance I can to others who may be learning the software. |
