I'm puzzled . . . as to WHY the forex spreads were zeroed out in the database, in the latest update PR3E?

Spreads, of course, constantly change, but usually within a range characteristic of a pair. The database was already reasonably accurate, so why zero them out?

For testing and paper trading: Won't our test results be appreciably inaccurate, unless we go back and REFILL the fields? It is a PITA to edit and REfill each pair that we might want to test against.

N must have done it for a good reason; I just can't think of one. And I did call N, but the (unnamed) staff had no idea either . . .

From the PR3E summary:

http://www.omnitrader.com/currentclients/proforum/thread-view.asp?threadid=6399

- (ForexTrader) Updated the Spread values in the database for all Forex symbols to zero.

The database was never accurate for the spread values. Since spreads are different across brokers & also different per FX pair, it was decided to set them all to zero, & let the users set them to whatever they need them to be.

They're not difficult to edit. Just click the Pencil icon in a Forex profile & select the FOREX tab. Double-click a symbol to edit it, change the Spread field to whatever you need it to be & click ok.

Why not provide the option to auto-update from supported brokers?

Since there's only one, it should be simple.

I like a suggestion that I just got from Charlie: That is to increase the spreads a bit for testing, to help ensure that the test results are not better than they really are.
