I recently got a laptop with 2 solid state drives in a Raid 0 configuration. In my experience, the biggest thing that affects OT performance is reading and writing of data, whether its stock data (O, C, H, L, etc) or reading/writing results from backtesting. Obviously CPU computing speed affects OT, but I/O with storage devices has the biggest impact for me. If I was buying another laptop, I'd get multiple SSDs in a Raid 10 configuration (gives speed AND redundancy of data). If your computer seller doesn't understand Raid 0, Raid 1, and Raid 10, then go directly to a computer maker. I used Velocity Micro and I'm very satisfied with their knowledge and the laptop.
