Q: I get a message about a "16 bit Windows Subsystem" error. In the message it complains about "AUTOEXEC.NT". I then have two options "Close" and "Ignore", they both do the same thing and once selected OT will give me another error saying, "Fatal Error - Cannot communicate with machnm1.exe!"
A:
This is not a critical error. OmniTrader is trying to access a windows file and is unable to do so. OmniTrader will run ok if you just click OK past this. To fix this you can do the following:
1. Close OmniTrader
2. Download attached MachFix.zip file to your desktop or a temporary folder and unzip/extract the files inside.
3. Hold down CRTL & ALT keys on your keyboard and hit delete. Click on the process tab and then click on the column Image Name to sort it. Find a program called ntvdm.exe, right-click it and select End Process. Then close the Task Manager.
4. Double click the extracted Fix.bat file which should replace each of the 2 files for you & delete the ntvdm.exe which Windows automatically replaces. The batch file will replace the ntvdm.exe, autoexec.nt,and machnm1.exe files which are located in your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 folder.
*If you have trouble with this, instead of using the fix.bat file, just copy & paste all the files (ntvdm.exe, autoexec.nt, & machnm1.exe) into the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 folder.
5. Run OmniTrader to make sure the error does not come up.
6. You can delete the files on your desktop and the MachFix.zip file after it has been ran.
