Q: I trade symbols on a non-US market. Sometimes I bring up a chart and the US symbol name is displayed at the top of my chart. Why does this happen?
A:
The problem occurs when user data symbols and easy data symbols overlap. Though your Exchange editor in OT is set to your local exchange, the symbols in the easy data database are set by default to the NASDAQ or NYSE exchanges. This setting is over-riding the exchange editor settings. The solution to this problem is to delete the symbols from the easy data database. Please follow the steps below:
1. Click Edit/Exchange Information and set the default exchange for the market you are trading.
2. Click the pencil icon.
3. Select Easy as the data source.
4. Select the US Stocks Tab.
5. Highlight the symbol at the top of the list.
6. Drag the scroll bar on the right side of the database window half way down the page.
7. Hold down Shift and select the bottom symbol (it will take a minute for the highlight to show as it has a long way to scroll).
8. Once all the symbols are highlighted, click the Delete button at the bottom of the symbols database.
9. Repeat steps 4-7 for remaining symbols.
10. Click OK to save the changes.
It may be necessary to add some of the symbols that previously overlapped back into your focus list. If you see error 3167 when clicking through your focus list, simply add the symbol that generates the error back to the focus list from your user data folder to re-establish the path.
