My Amazon OV/TP setup is working ok. Other than no emailed TP reports using gmail. I reduced the size of the instance to small to save on monthly cost and it runs fast enough to do the daily task. Yes, you do need the correct Java plugin to match the server OS for the instance. Quite simple to try one at a time until it works.
