It's sorta like those options some software provides to send in tracking info about your use, without any personal info, to help them out. Some people readily do that, others always check the "no" box. I think Nirvana would be wise to stay far far away from this practice, even if it's toggled by each user, especially once they are actually running the TP's that interact with brokerage accounts, on behalf of the user. If Nirvana opens the door even a tiny crack to share "anonymous" info from people's accounts, either externally or internally, it will make some folks worry or wonder a little bit about what else might be occurring. Prudence in this area is the wise course. The only exception would be those Elite Trader accounts through which customers are using to "sell services" to other people - in that case, the customer actually requests the info to be exposed. I have been asking Ed, in those situations, to make a very clear distinction between "barebones" ET clients who are using ET just for their own purposes, vs those who are marketing services to others and have their own "page". |
