Ed told me that "soon" (I still don't know when), we will have something "essentially equivalent" to dynamic lists that will allow us unlimited use of that benefit. I'm speaking of a DYNAMIC LIST EXPORT BUTTON ... it would create a file with full history of the DL, *in Historic List format*. We would then be able to directly upload that file AS an Historic List ... which will function just like a DL. It will be up to us to "maintain" that HL as frequently as we feel necessary. Most DL's are looking at general attributes that don't substantially change from one day to the next, so the most frequently that the lists likely need to be updated would be once a week. Most lists probably could be updated just once a month and work perfectly OK. The update would be just like the creation ... press the Export DL button, then load the file in as a Historic List. Since HL's don't burden the processor like DL's do, there would be no limit on how many we could create. I believe that a lot more than just 4-5 would be needed ... you can readily tailor lists not only for Market States (many permutations there), but also for the characteristics of different kinds of strategies (trending, RTM, etc). If you like this idea, please drop Ed a note to encourage him. His guess was that it would be pretty easy to implement. Postscript ... Of course it would be even better if we could just have a lot more DL's, with the proviso that they only are updated once a week or once a month. That would reduce the load on the servers (do the updates on the weekends), and would be self-maintaining. I campaigned for this a long time, a couple of years ago, but it didn't seem to get any traction. DL's are IMPORTANT. They are one of the most powerful tools in OmniVest.
