The log entry is correct and does indeed reflect the current cash balance of the account. IB defines the cash balance as the "Net Asset Value of the account" minus "the value of the stock held in the account" (plus interest credits/debits, dividend credits/debits, etc) The net asset value is what OV shows on the Trade Page as Current Balance. For margin accounts, the cash balance can range from a very large negative number if you've used almost all your buying power with long positions to a very large positive number if you've used almost all your buying power with short positions. So, while the log message is correct, it's of no use to a user and is confusing. I would suggest that this log message be removed and replaced with one that provides the date/time that the Net Asset Value of the account is updated and the new value.
