The way things work on the IB side is that you make a request to link an account to a broker/dealer. IB sends a message to the broker/dealer. They have to log into IB to approve the request. Every Friday by 3pm ET, IB moves all accounts that were approved that week. On Tuesday of this week, I requested that one of my accounts be linked to Gar Wood. IB immediately confirmed that a message had been sent to Gar Wood. This evening (Friday), I logged into my account and a Gar Wood header was displayed on the account management page so I assume Gar Wood approved the link and the account has been moved. I've heard nothing from Gar Wood yet. If I don't hear from them on Monday then I'll start pestering. No way it should more than a few days to set up a customer once they've approved an account. Angela, if you happen to read this, you might suggest to Gar Wood that they provide us with an explanation of what they need to do on their side once they have approved an IB account and how long they expect it to take before trading can commence. I would have expected an email from them as soon as they had approved my account indicating that the account was approved and I would be setup for trading withing the next N days.
