Greetings! We have released an enhancement to the Server version of the Trade Processor. This change applies to the “Delay Opening Orders" Trade Processor setting. The prior behavior of this setting would delay all opening orders and submit them simultaneously at the specified time. The feature was designed to wait for equity from closing orders to become available. The problem with this was that you didn''t know when equity became available, & you might be submitting your open orders several minutes later than when funds were available. The new behavior allows the opening orders to be submitted as soon as equity is freed from the execution of closing orders. It will do so up to the specified time. Ultimately you will see the same executed orders (closing and opening), but with an improved execution time on opening orders when using the Delay Opening Orders feature. Please make sure that your Max Equity setting under Edit>>Trade Settings is less than or equal to your broker account's buying power. For example, a cash account that is dedicated only to OmniVest should be set no higher than 100%. A margin account should be set under 200%. This change is now live on Server Mode Trade Processors only. The next release of the Desktop TP will have this change.

Barry, Just want to clarify how this works. Assume at market open you have $30K of buying power available. The start of your trading window is one hour before market open and TP submitted one closing order at that time that will free up $20K of equity once it is executed. Delay Opening orders is enabled with a submission time of 10:30 am. There are two outstanding opening orders, each requiring 20K of buying power. When does each opening order get submitted? Steve, in that example you have 30k available before market open, & another 20k after equity is freed from the closing order. The closing order submits at the start of your trading window along with the first opening order. The 2nd opening order does not submit to the broker, but is marked with a delayed message. At market open, the closing order & the submitted open order both execute. The second opening order waits. After the closing order fills, the equity is freed up. Then the second opening order gets submitted to the broker. If the above occurence happens & at 10:30am say that closing order still hasn't filled, then the second opening order will stop checking for the equity that it needs & not submit to the broker at all.

Perfecto ... the only additional help would be for the delayed orders to optionally be limit orders.

Have you considered expanding this to cover the T+3 timing issue for non-margined IRA accounts. I assume you/we could set a much longer entry delay to enable IRA''s to make "late" purchases at the T+3 point. As of now, we can set a delay of 0 days on our IRA''s and see what "would have been bought" had the funds been available. We can then go in when our IRA money comes back in, and, if we choose, manually make the purchase (if it still looks OK) and then synch it to our accounts so the "sale" can come off your signals. Problem - How do we now it''s still a "good" signal. This might work very well for the trending strategies but.... |
