Forum participants,

Thanks to everyone for posting in the Forum. I had a computer crash Sunday, so I am catching up on posting news etc. In a nutshell, here is a quick summery of where we got to on Friday.

1. Trade Synchronization: We believe we solved the trade synchronization problems we were seeing last week (Open Orders vs. Open Positions). Checks on Friday looked good. Another day or so of testing is needed. We will continue to monitor the system and address issues (and add safeguards) as they are uncovered.

2. Log Scales: We implemented Log Scales last week, along with the Account settings to scale Open Positions to an account value. More on how to use this later today.

Today I completed a video which

a) Explains how to use the Account Settings feature.
b) Describes some recent enhancements made to the OmniVest system
c) Includes a demonstration of the new Trade Processor Alpha!
d) Discloses what we are working on now, and our goals for the week.

Click here to watch the video.

More updates coming later this week.

I am trying something new...

I decided to open my OmniVest News forum to posts by users, so you can ask questions. The reason I restricted it when I created the Forum is I didn't want my posts to get "buried" in the middle of the thread. But I think the Sticky feature will work. Let's try it and see how it goes. I may change my mind!

Feel free to post questions here. Try to start "conversations" in the General Discussion forum, so as not to overload these threads. If you have a question, the more concise it is the better. As you can see, we are very busy over here. Thanks!

Looking ahead, do you think there will be a need to open more than 1 GX Trading account to trade via OV and OT simultaneously?

Do you foresee any issues trading 3 OV accounts, say, “aggressive, moderate, conservative,” through GX Trading simultaneously?

Good question. I am running 2 accounts at GXTrader right now - an Aggressive account (that I featured in my video) and an IRA. The problem with multiple accounts is there is this (really silly) NASD rule that you cannot have more than one Margin account at a broker. I know. It's weird. So, you can as many Cash accounts (which include IRAs) as you want, but only one Margin account.

However, you will be able to trade with OT/VT AND the Trade Processor in the same account at the same time, because the T.P. will know what trades it is in! It is designed to track its OmniVest trades and ONLY close those positions - even if you have other trades in the same symbol.

Pretty neat, huh?

Ed I just gotta say ... that video was probably the BEST use of my time of any video that Nirvana has ever created. Thank you for doing it. I hope you have time to do future weeks in the same way ... the live show and tell is much more effective than PDF's.

Thanks for the kudos. I do intend to do that every week. We are on a FAST TRACK with OmniVest - moving as rapidly as we can to get to a public release. I need our community engaged to get there. Thanks for your help and your posts. They have been great.

i agree that the video presentations great. they are the best for me because i am a visual (neuro linguistic programming). however, the members that are auditory and kinesthetic may prefer pdfs. The pdfs are great to study offline.

That was an oversight - the PDF is in this post and also on the post with the video. Thanks! Ed

Great news - my staff informed me that we just had our 2nd flawless run of OmniVest this evening - no server issues and no trade mismatches.

From my seat, OmniVest is ready to be engaged. The Trade Tracking feature I discussed in my video is nearly complete. I suggest people wait on that so they don't take trades and (potentially) miss exits because of a Strategy change they might make.

I am trading a personal account at gxtrader with the Trade Processor. We made great strides today on features. It's very close. My best estimate is we are a few days away from the first Alpha.

You're going to like how this thing works!

Do I understand correctly - for the present, entry/exit orders are to be "user" placed directly to the brokerage by reference to new entries and exits posted daily on the OmniVest web site for each of our portfolios. Further, an unlimited number of strategies may be included for each portfolio and three portfolios is the maximum for each account.

As I recall, Ed said there would be for the nonce a limit of three ACCOUNTS. I don't recall him mentioning a limit of Portfolios in a given Account. Ed please correct me on this if I'm mistaken.

If you don't use the Trade Processor, then yes you place entry/exit orders manually with your broker from info provided on the site ... and/or (eventually) via emails to you.

Thank you for your response. You mentioned: "If you don't use the Trade Processor". Is the alpha version usable now?

As I recall, Ed said the Trade Processor (alpha) is "nearly ready" ... I think he's hoping to release it next week.

The log scales are now the default. I doubt that they kept arithmetic ... not very useful for OVest activity ... if the yaxis range is tight then the two axes are essentially the same.

There is no limit on Portfolios in one Account. The idea is to spread risk across different approaches in a single account, which is why we built it this way.

We are very close. Added several enhancements over the last few days that help with tracking and maintaining a proper log. I will show it in my update Monday. We need to complete an installation. My best guess is I will have it on the site by Tuesday.

Ed - could you please clarify if my understanding is correct?

1. Maximum accounts are 3
2. No limits on the number of portfolios.
3. Strategies are unlimited for Gold, but are limited to 7 for Silver and 3 for Bronze. This means if you are Bronze you cannot use more than the same 3 strategies for all accounts and all portfolios. In other words Bronze means 3 strategies period no matter how many accounts or portfolios you create.

One of the promised features that seemed particularly interesting to me is the idea that users can post strategies themselves into OmniVest. I gather that this has something to do with an Elite Trader feature. However, I have heard very little about it since then.

It would be nice to have a status update on this feature.

Ed,
Once a "custom portfolio" is up and running with open positions in force, can additional strats be added?
Can a strat (that is not currently managing open positions) be exchanged for another within an existing portfolio?
Thanks,
FG

Hi guys

You might have more success getting your Q's answered if you post them in the Room dedicated to Questions, here:

Sorry - did not see these other questions from this week...

Bob123 - You are correct.

Jeff - Elite Trader will merge into OmniVest, probably in December.

F Gordon - Yes, it can. You can swap out Strategies whenever you like. If you are using the Trade Tracking feature on the web site or the Trade Processor, either will remember that you are in trades from Strategies you are no longer tracking, and properly post the Closing Orders.
