Static is easy - a list of symbols that remains the same for all historical and future bars - this is the "classic" focus list.

Historic is a series of snapshots of static lists that change periodically over time - you spec each new change - list remains constant until the next historic change date hits. Example: IBD 100 guru list

Dynamic - *unquestionably the best* - the symbols on the list for any given bar is the result of applying a formula-driven filter to find symbols that pass the test for that bar. List can change every bar. Much more legit for backtesting than Static lists, and easier to create than historic.
