If I submit an PW ECA run (click the start button), am I free to get back into OV and perform tasks such as -
1) create accounts
2) run strategy lab and add strategies
3) create other portfolios
4) run various simulations on the above items
5) rename strategies (either selected or not selected in the PW Strategies tab currently being evaluated)
And on renaming of strategies, will OV perform a "deep" rename? I.E. if I change a name of a strategy, will the name change be reflected in portfolios and accounts that use said strategy?
Thanks

Good questions Keith...
I don't know the answers, but I'd think you could do all those things except #5 since the PW 'may' be running isolated enough.
#5 - I don't think you'd want to change anything associated with the strategies being used in the PW run(?).
I don't have time today to experiment with it, but could you try doing all those (1 thru 5) and let us know?
Thanks,
Mark

I have a long ECA run in process. (Still running this AM...)
I was able to select accounts, change portfolios, change simulation dates, etc. I'm assuming ECA was not effected - it didn't seem to mind.
I didn't try a lot of "creation" tasks as I was fearful of causing issues with the ECA run in process. But on another day I will try things out.
Of course, the appearance of success doesn't mean the code was designed to support concurrent access by multiple threads. So a cursory "it didn't seem to break" isn't the same as an assurance that the code has been designed and tested for such contingencies.
Cheers

So I spent some time this AM using a test account to look at YTD portfolio returns. The test account was different form the "Test ECA" account I was using to run my overnight PW ECA run.
With the test account active, I went to PW to check status. I noticed that the PW page was showing "Account: Test". Correct. But I started the ECA run with "Account: Test ECA", which has completely different settings. Most notably the simulation date range.
The PW ECA Status appears to be honoring the original date range. IE it is currently working on a month that is not part of "Account: Test" simulation date range.
So hopefully I haven't screwed my overnight run up...
