Trade Processor Pre-Release 4D (Build 1.4.20.0) is now available. The update is accessible on the OmniVest page see screenshot below. It is not yet available on TP startup yet.

Barry: Trying to understand Delay Opening Orders functionality.
Currently, I have set OV "Buying Power" at 150%, but TP "Max Equity" at 160%. Objective: I was trying to stop "TP overnight margin exceeded" to cancel trades OV defined. My assumption is extra TP "Max Equity %" value setting leaves $$ for those unexpected overnight decreases in Account value that could cancel a trade OV calculated the day before.
I do not completely understand this additional function use. Will "Delay Opening Order" functionality address my objective? Should "Delay Opening Orders" be set to 9:30:01? Should I assume anything time before opening of the market may still cause a reject of the OV suggested position(s) if market value > Account value before exit of existing positions.

[Update: This behavior is no longer correct. See Barry's post below]

When you have used most of your buying power and OV generates both closing and opening orders, it is possible for your broker to reject one or more opening orders because they may cause a margin violation since there is no guarantee that the closing orders will be executed before the opening orders. The Delay Opening Orders checkbox provides a way to ensure that closing orders will be executed before opening orders. To do this, you need to configure your order submission window to enable orders to be submitted prior to market open. This will cause TP to submit closing orders as MOO. With Delay Opening Orders checked, TP will not submit the opening orders until the time you specify. So the trick is to set the opening order submission time to some delta after market open that will give you a very high probability that all closing orders have completed execution. I have always used 9:35:00 as my opening order submission time and have never had an opening order rejected.

I typically have buying power configured to 190% and TP Max Equity set to 200% so TP will always submit the trades that OV generates.

Steve

Steve2, that is the old behavior. Please refer to this thread regarding the new Delay Opening Orders setting.

Thanks Barry, I must be getting old :-)

Is the new behavior now supported in the desktop TP?

"TP: Maximum overnight exposure exceeded" order rejects what I'm trying to stop. We do the same thing. Looks like if I enable "Match OmniVest Shares" and "Update OmniVest Current Balance", then bump TP "Max Equity" a bit over OV Account "Buying Power %", that works.

I assume "Delay Opening Orders" is directed to non-margin accounts, or at least my IB margin accounts do not seem to get margin violations at Open.

Barry: I've been having a problem with running TP for IB accounts in AWS instance. At the Bash, there was mention of upcoming functionality for running IB from the OV TradesTP web page. Any status update on IB connectivity?
Thanks,

Brian, have you tried getting help from our support?

As for IB connectivity, it's definitely happening. We are currently working on it to be available asap (around early Sept).

I have had IB-TP in AWS cloud working well for several months now.

But twice in the last two weeks I have had TP4D suddenly quit working. The first time it crashed with an error message (sorry, did not screen capture) after having worked well since it was issued.

The second time it simply closed out.

The only way I noticed something amiss was when I stopped getting my morning Broker Report from the TP. Overall I missed about four days of trading.

Same here Mark. Ran for months clean, but has failed 4 times in recent days.

Barry: Spoke to support a few days back. Tried a few things suggested to no avail. Just send some error info I obtained from TP to them by email.

Looking forward to September ;-)

I've been running three instances of TP (for 3 different accounts) on a single AWS instance for about 2 months, flawlessly. I learned earlier that it's important to periodically shut down TP, load the MS updates, and reboot the AWS instance to keep it running well.

Me too, and agree on upgrade. But right now, gut says our problem is a Java/Windows/TP clash (and maybe AWS, but doubt it), due to a recent update of windows and java :-(

Always better to be a late adopter of updates...

Like Mark S., I've been running flawlessly and always install Windows updates. But, I have not yet installed the pending Java update (showed up in the last day or two). So, perhaps I should wait on that update, and see what develops in this thread.

Yes, I second that process.

I pick the first Sat/Sun of the month to close out IBG-TP, download and install all Win updates, reboot, and get the IBG-TP back up for work in the new month.

I forgot to set limits on Log File retention. disk space low. Suspect that is my problem.

There it goes again . . . My TP in AWS cloud stopped again (multiple times in the last three weeks). I attached the error message and error informaton text.

I am subscribed to Steve's and Mark H. Elite Traders, but other than one trade closed on 7-1-16, I have not been able to get TP to make any trades all month long.

The IBG seems to be working fine.

When I close out the error msg, and attempt to restart TP, I get the same error msg and txt. I have to reboot windows to get TP to start again.

Mark: My problem was my AWS Instance storage was maxed out. I did not have my TP Logging set and instance was maxed out (30GB available in free tier).

Thanks for the tip.

I went in and checked . . . and have only 3.56Mb left out of the 30Gig. There is *nothing else* running other than the one IBG-TP pair.

Some people have multiple instances of IBG-TP pairs operating without problem. And until this month, my IBG-TP had been running fine, too.

I had set TP to delete all log files older than one month. Resetting it to one week only freed up 8.4Mb, now 13.8 free.

I tried decreasing the page file, but Win server 2008 insists on using a rather large 554Mb pagefile.sys

Any suggestions?

--Mark G.

Edit: 554Mb (not Gb); thanks, Steve.

I built a new instance ;-) Seems to be fine so far.

I could not figure out how to delete logs. Seems only one TP had files listed under "Log files"...

I have run multiple TP before without problem. Maybe a 4D issue?

BTW, a new build left 4GB to spare.

Mark, I have 3 TP/IBGateway pairs running. I have 4.93GB left of the 30GB. Page file is 8GB. (You must have misstated your pagefile size. 554GB is larger than your 30GB.) And note, pagefile size can be changed. And, adding more TP/IBGateway pairs shouldn't significantly change the storage used, except for the increased space needed for logs. The limit that will restrict how many instances can be run will be the memory. I'm seeing 92 to 98% of the 1GB memory being used with 3 pairs. Each pair uses 160 to 180MB. So, I won't be surprised if I start seeing some problems if I add any more TP/IBG pairs.

Perhaps the most significant difference in space used by the OS is because my AWS server is Windows Server 2012 R2.

Steve: I'm running 3 TP/IBG pairs as well. Using Server 2008 though.

Question: Can you view each individual TP's Log Files from every TP's View>Log Files dropdown menu? I can view logs only from one of the three TP's. The other two take you to Documents folder.

I see a complete log tree directory for all TP's running, but only through one TP View>Log Files. Also, I cannot find Logs through File Explorer, where I remember previous accessibility.
