Just remember you can't short at FOLIOfn. However, from your comments I am sure you were not able to at Scottrade either (you need a $25,000 account minimum). However, if the market starts to go against you legally you can buy UltraShorts and make money as the market goes down. This is also true in an IRA which is very nice. You don't have to be a loser just because you can't afford the minimum shorting requirement in a bear market. While not doing especially well in the recent market upsurge, the following portfolio could prove to be a winner on the way down: https://www.folioinvesting.com/rtg/folio.jsp?name=Bear%20Market%202X There is also a 1.5X Bear Market Portfolio as well as 137 more canned portfolios with any diversification you can think of. You could even start your children off in investing here and give them a more practical education than they would ever obtain in school. Tom Helget [Edited by EYEGUY on 9/16/2009 9:57 PM] |
