You assume correctly. When a GA block is copied & pasted to another strategy it retains everything including KBs & data samples in both strategies & they are both completely separate. If you then delete the KBs of the new strategy, the old strategy will be unaffected.

For future reference, training & GA questions are better suited in the club forum.
