I am amazed by the differences in the equity curve "shapes" between one year of 2% allocation vs. the less restrictive ATM allocation. One account has almost completely recovered from the February draw-down, the other has not (mine). I'm not sure I want to go all the way to 10% allocation yet but I do want to obtain the better looking equity curve shape. Is it possible to set up OV/TP such that 1/2 the funds in the account are unusable by them? Hidden so to speak? I want my result to be the same number of trades for the same equities but with the amount of shares to be 1/2 the unrestricted ATM amount. As clarification, assume I have a $100k marginable account. I want FTM-ATM to act if it were working with a $50k marginable account. Can I configure OV/TP so that the year end equity returns are 1/2 of a $100k account, with the same shape equity curve, with the same number of trades and each trade having 1/2 the number of shares traded? Why would I want this? Because I'm hoping to give up some profit to reduce the % MDD with respect to the $100k which actually exists in the account. I realize this sounds like I want adjust the percent of available margin used but I'm not sure it's that simple. Anyway, I hope the answer to this is not incredibly obvious to everyone except me. In which case I invoke the "There are no dumb questions" rule. Cheers, Arby |
