OK - all mended and working.

Metastock got back to me and supplied the original version of their download tool - this allows me to download in the original .dat file format which OT reads OK.

So all now working and MS supplies the historic data by default. So I Guess I wasted a few $/£ with EODData, but at least I am up and running!
