Q: I Can't login to FOLIOfn for the first time. I get the immediate error message, "A connection cannot be made to FOLIOfn. Please check your internet connection." (See attachment)
A:
1. In your Internet Explorer browser, try logging in directly to http://www.foliofn.com & if you cannot, check your internet connection.
2. Must be a normal account with Folio & not a paper account.
3. In the Folio interface through OmniTrader, make sure you are entering the correct ID & Password.
4. Check your system clock to make sure it's set to the correct date & year.
5. Try defaulting the security settings in Internet Explorer. In I.E. click Tools/Internet Options/Security. Then highlight Internet & then the Default Level button. Do the same for Local Intranet, Trusted Sites, & Restricted Sites. Once you've defaulted all 4 of them, click Privacy. If you can, click the Default button & click ok to finish.
6. OmniTrader must be on latest update. Try running your updater to install the latest update.
7. Try downloading and installing this hotfix located here which will update some necessary components that may be outdated on your pc:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/4/7/2/4726bf56-cfd9-47b9-89de-15be551eb588/NDP1.1-KB824629-X86.exe then try connecting to Folio through OmniTrader.
8. Disable any firewall(s), antivirus, popup blocker, parental control software, & download accelerator software you may be running & see if OmniTrader can connect to Folio now.
9. Open Internet Explorer. Click on Tools/Internet Options/Connections/LAN Settings. Under Proxy Server, is Use a Proxy Server for your LAN enabled? If so, you can try disabling it & click ok twice & see if OmniTrader can connect to Folio now. If you are sure that you absolutely need that option enabled, go back & enable it, then click Advanced. Under Exceptions enter www.foliofn.com & click ok.
