Q: How do I add Forex symbols into OmniTrader 2006?
A:
For eSignal's Forex naming scheme, click the link below & it is on the bottom of the page.
http://www.esignalcentral.com/support/symbol/symbol_format.asp
For DTNIQ's Forex naming scheme, click the link below & Forex is close to the bottom of the page.
http://www.dtniq.com/template.cfm?navgroup=supportlist&urlcode=323&view=1
**Enter the symbol in that format in an end of day or real time stocks profile in OmniTrader & it should get data just fine.**
Here are instructions on how to enter the symbol:
1. Click on the Pencil(Edit Focus List) icon on the top of your focus list.
2. Click on the Add button at the bottom right.
3. You will see a box come up that is titled Add New Symbols to Stocks Database. For the column labeled Req & you need to make sure the Rows with Yes are completely filled out across the row. The first Yes is the Country & follow the row to the right and make sure the Value column has US.
4. The next Yes is the Exchange Sessions. Follow the row to the right and click on the Question mark in the value column, this will bring up a box of the exchanges & Find the Forex exchange, select it & click Ok.
5. Then go to the last Yes which is the Symbol column & follow it to the right. Click on the Question mark and type in the symbol exactly as it is displayed by the data vendor in capital letters. That question mark should be deleted as well.
All Forex symbols from e-signal are in the format: Base Symbol (space), the spot code, a dash, then FX. So an example would be: JPY A0-FX
6. When finished, click Ok. Then find the symbol in the list you just added, highlight it, and then click the Add Arrow button to the top left to add it to the focus list.
7. Click Ok on the bottom right to save your changes.
