Double-click on the chart and thin cross-hairs will appear that will provide a temporary guide. The vertical line crosses all panes.

For a permanent vertical line, use the "trend" line tool (segemnt) but make the "slant" vertical. It is restricted to one pane ... I suppose you could draw one on each related pane.

What Jim said. Also in OT2010 there is a new Vertical Line tool.

Thanks guys

Been to a lot of seminars where this feature is demonstrated on other packages. Could not figure out why a novice like me could not do it in OT2009 - I thought it was me

I have installed OT2010 - the vertical line does not extend beyond the price chart - not that useful at all. The vertical line should extend to the indicator chart The whole point of the vert line is to see how the indicators line up with the price chart. See attached to see another charting package I use where I use the vertical line tool to indicate/see alignments.

As mentioned before, you can double-click on the chart and a crosshairs appears that spans the entire chart, all panes, top to bottom and right to left. It will duplicate what you posted as a snapshot.

If you want a single permanent vertical line across all panes, that just happens to be something that OT does not do. There are many, many things that OT does do which other software does not do (most of them are truly robust and worth a lot of money).
And, yes, there are some things that other software does that OT does not do (many of them are simplistic). You've hit on one of the things that has not been widely requested before. For 99% of the users, the exisitng crosshairs tool does the job.

Each pane in the OT window is essentially independent of the other panes ... the only commonality is they share the same time axis ... and in some cases (point and figure) even that is not the case.

Drawing objects, therefore, exist within a "pane" ... there is no "container" into which a drawing object the covers multiple panes can be stored. That's why the crosshairs are ephemeral.

You can, however, draw permanent vertical lines separately in each pane. If you need a permanent record of what the crosshairs are showing you across two panes, then one additional click and drag is all it takes.

Hi,

Is there an indicator that would draw vertical lines every 10 bars?

Define a color chart that paints a thin background line:

Bar = int(bar/10)*10

Also can be done in OLang but this is easier.

The user guide provides a good explanation for how to use color charts. Select background. Then enter the formula I provided in the formula builder window. That should do it for you. The background line will be one bar thick.
