Subject : signal generating process

i have a problem in understanding the signal generating process. For example yesterday OT 2005 showed me an entry signal in HAL for the strategy "swing".
Today, after the stock lost more than 2.5 %, the entry signal for yesterday is vanished and OT showes me that an entry signal for the strategy "7 day moves", generated 6 day before (??) was stopped out yesterday? But this signal wasn`t shown yesterday. What has happened to the yesterdays swing signal? Can that be right? Why do the signals change so quickly?
In the to do list i set the optimized períod to daily. Wouldn ´t it be better if the generated signals remain till the are stopped out?

antares66,
The reason your signals changed is because you have chosen a daily optimize boundary. If you want to keep this timeframe, the likelihood of your signals changing is very good.

Think about it this way: The information about a given stock has changed, so the result of all the calculations that are going on have changed. There are many factors that are being input into the decisions that effect the final outcome.

If you choose to optimize on a longer time period your signals will not change so often. Keep in mind that when the date of one of those boundaries hits most of your signals will change.

If you do a search in the forums you will probably find more discussion on this subject.

The concept of OT is that it is trying to reflect the changes that have happened in the market and then report to you how those changes would affect the stock you are looking at. The question you need to determine is just how often do you need to see how different the market is? I think you will find that many people are using monthly. That gives a long enough time to work with a signal and a short enough time to get a new "feel" of the market.

Hope this helps.
