OT2013 Profile error?

This morning, after opening OT - my Forex profile became corrupted. (I think?? b/c its not opening...) This was, after I had opened a RT stocks portfolio the other day.. And being that OScan is not available in RT, one must go thru the benign and exhaustive steps to opening an EOD profile, running OMniscan, selecting the lists, closing the profile and reopening a RT profile. It's important to note that we only have access to just ONE list in a RT profile.. so if your OmniScan lists give you symbols upwards in the hundreds, you may lose some excellent candidates and then have to further manually reduce your list of symbols.. which can be ok, b/c you would end up doing this anyways.. but forwhatever reason, this ability is still not available in OT... OT can not handle a large quantity of symbols, It ended up importing somewhere around 700 to 900 symbols - And, this was my glaring mistake not realizing how many symbols were being imported.. Even so, and just an educated guess, it should not have caused the problems that it did.. And, After doing so.... CRASH! the RT profile couldn't handle the symbols I brought in.. understandably so!!! However even tho analysis just bogged down, it would not let me stop it from running analysis, nor would it let me delete the symbols.. Again, understandably.. When I finally got OT to remove the symbols down to perhaps 50.. something was different. I couldn't open up another profile, I couldn't open up data periods, or data settings.. and ever since, I have been basically unable to use this RT Stocks portfolio.. (Along with some other profiles..) So, I have had the luxury of another morning completely WASTED! All b/c I imported too many symbols into one profile the other day - which perhaps effected other profiles too!! No trades. Just trying to fix OT.. And I even have the pleasure of having to forceably close OT just to open another profile - b/c when in a profile, its not letting me change to a different profile.. Oh, and its not letting me exit or close either.. I have to force close it by End Task thru Task Manager. I have attached the errors that I managed to caputure. Unfortunately, since I've had to forceably close a few times.. I'm not sure if what I attached is enough information...as I had no LOG file to submit.. other than the one I attached from C/programfiles/nirvana/ot2013/log ... I also attached my Profiles - or the ones I think I now have problems in.. ****I was unable to upload/attach the RT stocks portfolio. If need be, I will email it to Support.. Thanks!! I also want to ask somethings - Does anyone else experiences the volume of errors t1hat I do? Do you on a daily basis, or at the very least a frequent basis have to click some popup error window? Do you, the majority of the time when closing OT, get a windwo to send the error Log File and submit it to Nirvana? For me, such things are the most common occurrences in OT. In fact, I get more errors in OT than I do signals! (Ok, that's just a joke..) But my message is the same - I can NOT use OT with all these errors, glitches, setbacks, poor plugins, rushed out modules.. I apologize for my dramatic plight but its just coming from my frustration this morning - I have wasted yet, another entire morning, unable to trade b/c OT is not working properly... Last week it was VT. This week its OT. I don't have the time to be working out these kinks like this.. I just want to trade. Its taken me years to get where I am.. And, in fact, OT is the reason why I am where I am in life - OT has changed my life for the better. I've said it before, its very empowering and that's why I have such a fondness for the products.. Though, it was a beginning platform as unfortunately with the problems I have in OT/VT I have resorted to using other products where I can never recall getting any kind of error. atleast not one that halted my trading so often. (But, I must say to be fair - I usually daytrade Forex and occassionally stocks... and OT is not setup for Forex, Futures, etc.. and seems to lose its effectiveness in RT).. OT, is at its best for EOD, Swing Trading, etc..) But some of the functions that OT have is archaic anyways.. And I must express such sentiment b/c I feel that these issues need to be resolved before coming out with another rushed or subpar plugin.. the majority of N plugins are excellent. and as a business, not every product is going to be as good as others.. But I feel its warranted to mention when such plugins are pushed out along a factory line without addressing other long standing issues.. So, I mention the above about the plugins.. that is it, at all possible, that the problems with trading RT, or Forex can be exasperated with these plugins? Basically, I feel that plugins such as DTM, or TS, or DPM lack quality and are not in the same realm of other N products.. As maybe this can be an underlying reason?? Like I said.. It's just a guess, or more so a question?? I'm also sure that if the majority of OT users experience the issues I have, Nirvana would acknowledge it and fix it.. I apologize for the trouble, Marc. If you have an issue like this, sometimes it's better to contact support for a faster resolution. 1. Close OmniTrader, browse to your C:\Program Files\Nirvana\OT201#\Results folder & delete all the contents. These are only temporary files. 2. Browse to your C:\Program Files\Nirvana\OT201#\Profiles folder. There should be many files with the extension .otp. If you see any files that end in the extension .ldb, delete them. 3. Open OT. 4. If the problem persists, open a different profile & click Tools -> Repair Database. Then repair that profile. Open the profile & see if it's fixed. If not, you may need to create a new profile. | ||

Thanks Barry. I do want to apologize for my choice of words mostly b/c I don't intend to put Nirvana in a negative light.. I will say though, if it weren't for you or Ryan, Jon, etc I don't know what I would do. I surely would be lost. So, I appreciate all your help. Almost every post I make you are one of the first and few to respond within a days time - You are probably correct.. Calling the office perhaps is the best choice to get it resolved quicker. I hope that by posting in the forums, that I am not causing you or anyone else unnecessary work.. Meaning, I post ALL my issues in the forums. probably more than anyone else.. I always had a fear that I take your time away or ability to help others! HOWEVER.... the main reason why I post in the forums is b/c I want to see if anyone else has the SAME issues?! Usually I don't get such feedback but sometimes I do.. Like with Pat and James recently telling me they get similar experiences.. So it basically just makes me feel better that its just not me nor am I the only one!! LOL! Whatever you had me do, seemed to work..(so far...).. I did 1. and 2. then opened OT. my Forex RT profile is working.. as yesterday, when I opened it.. it didn't load the symbols.. in fact, it looked like it didn't load at all... I also am able to open up RT stocks and open up features from the menu.. as when I clicked File/Open profile...I'd just hear a "ding" and wouldn't open.. Or if I tried to go Edit/DataSettings..I'd hear that "ding" again like it was stuck frozen.. Just to show you the size of this file in my Results folder.... I attached an image of my "results" folder.. there were about 6 or 7 files in there ranging in size from 1KB to maybe 1,000KB ... This ForexRTotr file was 1,000,000+KB's !!! I find it is often quicker to get help from the Forum, then by sending email to tech support. I tend to avoid calling tech support on the phone, because in general that hasn't been helpful. I agree that Barry has been very good and helpful, and on occasions, so have others, like Thad. My experience with the manifestly recurring error messages that at least delay VT and OT from running is similar to yours, Marc. It has been true for a long time, and I have the feeling that it is increasingly so. I run ThinkorSwim and Fidelity Trader Pro every day, and don't get errors as with Nirvana products, and don't pay thousands of dollars, or any dollars, for them. Their updates are infrequent, and almost always take place quickly and without problems. OT and VT are fairly unique tools, and I have persisted for nearly a decade in trying to realize the promised benefits.
