The best reference point for how to configure and run the backtesting & forwardtesting would be to view the video tutorials available for OmniTrader. Just install these, open OmniTrader, and click on View -> Toolbars -> Tutorials. This toolbar will let you enter and watch the educational series. The particular lesson you want to watch is Section 4 / Lesson 4 "The Test Settings Tab"
INSTRUCTIONS TO DOWNLOAD OMNITRADER TUTORIALS:
Go to http://www.omnitrader.com/downloads.asp?DownloadCode=4 to start your download process for OmniTrader tutorials and follow the online instructions to complete the download.
As far as setting up the EOD data, we need to know what data feed you are attempting to run in the software. Is it eSignal? Our OmniData feed? Is it metastock format data & do you have it already downloaded to your computer?

Thad

HOW TO SETUP METASTOCK EOD DATA WITH OMNITRADER
Open OmniTrader and click on Edit -> Data Settings -> change your datafeed to "None" -> click OK. Next, click on the pencil icon at the top of your focus list and change the data source at the top to "User Data". Now, you can browse to the location where you have your data saved at and then you can import the data into your focus list. Simply highlight the symbols in this database window and then you can add them to your focus list.
Regards,
Thad

Hi, Pradip:
Your question/request is a VERY broad/general one. It would take many pages of typing and snapshots to answer.
Thad's suggestion about watching the TUTORIALS is a very good one. I suggest that you START there.
Then, I would ALSO suggest that you go through OT's Help sections, especially the four titled:
Data Settings
Analysis (except Test Profile ... save that for later and do your "learning" with EOD data)
Trading Strategies in OmniTrader
Portfolio Simulations
Once you have absorbed all the Tutorial Video information, and have studied the four Help sections that I mentioned, then you will be able to ask more SPECIFIC questions that will be practical to answer in a short time.
NOTE: it's not "hard" to do the backtesting, but there are a lot of things you need to understand first. That's part of using OmniTrader ... it has a big learning-curve ... but once you understand it, you'll be REALLY happy that you spent the time to learn it.
I hope this helps!

Also, Pradip:
I just noticed that this thread is in the OT2010 section of the forum.
There have been some SIGNIFICANT improvements made to the program that impact BT & FT results in the 2011 version. If you are still on OT2010, I strongly suggest you upgrade to 2011.
Re the Tutorials that Thad gave you a link to earlier:
I tested the install process and all it did was download a (big) file. From there, you need to:
1. run that file (an exe) to install the Tutorials
2. open the folder C:\Program Files\OT20xx\Tutorials
3. run the Education_Series.exe file
... It's supposed to be possible to run this from a toolbar icon in OT, but I could not get that to work.
