I would like to code a trading strategy that would fire a signal(call and put) when, and only when, these three criteria are true. For UP signal 1 MACD crossing up thru 0 line 2 Stochastic K% line passing up thru d% 3 SMA(2) crossing up thru SMA(3) For DOWN signal Same 3 as UP signal but crossing down rather than up Each of these should be crossing at the same candle on daily chart. No signal if any portion is not crossing or has crossed on a previous day I am not a programmer. Any help in the development of this strategy would be greatly appreciated. If we are successful, I have several folks in an options group that may convert to OmniTrader. Thanks, MT

Attached is a system that does what you want, parameterized so you can play with the periods on the STO amd MACD. Also I included a strategy using the system. Mel ![]()

Thanks, Mel, for the speedy reply and formula. Could you provide me with the correct way to integrate your strategy into my software? I tried placing it into the strategies folder with the other .OTS files but kept receiving an error any OT would not load. Your help is greatly appreciated!! MT

The MTUT.ots file goes into the OT2009\Strategies folder. It will show up in the list of strategies, and you can play with the stops, filters, etc. there using the Strategy Builder diagram that appears when you edit a strategy. The MTUTsys.txt file goes into the OT2009\VBA\Systems folder. It will show up if you open the Omnilanguage script compiler (EDIT|Omnilanguage) and look in the systems folder. Click the complile buttuon to make sure there are no errors. This only works if you have the Professional edition of OT. Otherwise you can't add Omnilanguage scripts. Mel

Short of purchasing the Pro addition, is there any other way to incorporate the new strategy into my 07 Stocks version? Also, on a personal note, would you recommend upgrading to PRO? Do you use the Pro edition on a regular basis? Are you trading profitably utilizing OmniTrader? Thank you so much for your insight and for taking the time to write the requested code.

Actually, you sort of can. Attached is a zip file with two strategies. One has your three systems, but using EMAs rather thatn SMAs, since SMA crossovers are not part of the standard OT systems. The other has two systems, with a filter to do the SMA corssover. I do not know if the little script in the filter will work in your system or not. If it does, uou have what you want. You should look at the parameter in the systems and set them to what you want, or let them optimize - I have optimization turned off. The Pro version of OT has many advantages, even if you are not a programmer. There are many systems, indicatrors, and stops available written by OT uers. I advise you to look at the Pro Forum for the kinds of stuff available. Mel ![]()

Mel, I deeply appreciate your attempt to help me. I regret to say that both of the strategies that you supplied still will not load. After placing the two files into the strategies folder I received an error upon opening OmniTrader. I guess it is not meant to be and I will no bother you with this issue any further. Thanks for your time and effort. MT

Hi MTUT, Give sales a call and ask to speak with Scott Moore @ ext 310 and try out OT Pro. If memory serves correctly I believe that they give a 90-day trial. Now that Mel has set you up with the necessary code it would be pretty straight forward to test out your ideas in 90 days to learn if the expense of the upgrade would pan out for you. I can’t program a thing but as Mel points out many are willing to assist and there are many coded files already there for you to download. Check it out further here: HTTP://www.omnitrader.com/omnitrader/proforum/category-view.asp Good luck and let us know if it works out for you. Bruce H |
