Dudger,

You want to copy the following folders.

C:\Program Files\Nirvana\OT2007\ChartTemplates
C:\Program Files\Nirvana\OT2007\Profiles
C:\Program Files\Nirvana\OT2007\Strategies
C:\Program Files\Nirvana\OT2007\Brokerage
C:\Program Files\Nirvana\OT2007\TradePlans
C:\Program Files\Nirvana\OT2007\VBA

Hello John. I copies the files as you suggested to my other computer.
When I booted up the program. I did not get all my stocks that I had listed in the focus list on my computer. The focus list on the computer I transferred everything to is empty.

I also copied the database files to see if that would work

Any way of copying all my stocks?

Dudger,

Do you have alot of symbols to copy? So, you are copying the old files from your work computer to your home computer..

If its the symbols that you want, a simple, yet effective way is to:

1 - highlight all the symbols you want on your OT from your work computer, and right click in the Focus List, then click COPY.
2- Open "NotePad" and right Click again and click "Paste" - you now can save it as a ".txt" file and save it to a disc (to be transfered to your home computer)..
2a. - OR a simple quick tip and easier -, just save it in your email if you have a Yahoo or Hotmail account.. (when I want to save files, instead of saving to a disc, I just open a new email, attach the file and click "Save Draft".. so when I go to the 'other' computer, i just open up my yahoo account, click drafts and there's the file that can be opened right from my yahoo account and saved to my computer.. - just a quick tip if interested).

3 - Now, on your 'home' computer - open the "notepad" .txt file (however you saved it on a disc or email, etc.) - open the file, highlight and (right click) and copy.. then go into your FocusList in OT on your home computer, right click and click "paste symbols" or..
3a - you can "import symbols" into your OT - this is a little more complicated but very easily can be done. So lets say saved this new file containing the symbols from your OT on your work computer to your email client, open up your email client, and save the file to your "Documents" folder or your "Desktop" on your home computer.. (Or, if you saved it to a disc..it can be imported right from the disc)

4 - now when in OT, and you want to import these symbols into your FocusList - click "File", "Import Symbols", "Symbol List" and at the bottom click "Browse" - you now can get the 'notepad' .txt file from wherever you had placed it (on the disc drive, documents folder, desktop, etc..) and open them up and import them into your Focus List..

Thank you for the assistance.

Unfortunately, I tried to do both procedures you suggested and I cannot paste the symbols to a disk (thumbdrive) or to notepad. The paste symbol is grayed out. I feel I may have to do one at a time ( I go alot of them)

Jules, that Copy/Paste feature was not in OT2007. It was added in OT2009.

If you only need to copy your Focus Lists, all you need is the Profiles from the C:\Program Files\Nirvana\OT2007\Profiles folder. Once they are copied over to the new machine open OT & click File/Open to open your Profile.

Yes. In the C:\Program Files\Nirvana\OT2007 folder there is a file called notes.otd. Copy that to your new machine.
