Hi, Have found the restriction to 3 very limiting as I have 2 lists working very nicely and as they are used in live trading (in Production status) that leaves me only 1 to experiment with at best. I try to have pairs of dynamic lists working, one that has a bias for good RTM longs and one that that has a bias for good RTM shorts. I might also one day look at lists for good trending candidates. So would really appreciate the limit at least being set to 4... or having a way to buy access to have more lists. Good Dynamic Lists I personally think are a key to improved (existing) strategy performance which is still the foundation of OmniVest performance as it feeds into balancing and so forth. Thanks, Gordon.

Hi, Gordon I agree 100%. Talked about it at the Bash. Ed told me that "soon" (I still don't know when), we will have something "essentially equivalent" to dynamic lists that will allow us unlimited use of that benefit. I'm speaking of a DYNAMIC LIST EXPORT BUTTON ... it would create a file with full history of the DL, *in Historic List format*. We would then be able to directly upload that file AS an Historic List ... which will function just like a DL. It will be up to us to "maintain" that HL as frequently as we feel necessary. Most DL's are looking at general attributes that don't substantially change from one day to the next, so the most frequently that the lists likely need to be updated would be once a week. Most lists probably could be updated just once a month and work perfectly OK. The update would be just like the creation ... press the Export DL button, then load the file in as a Historic List. Since HL's don't burden the processor like DL's do, there would be no limit on how many we could create. I believe that a lot more than just 4-5 would be needed ... you can readily tailor lists not only for Market States (many permutations there), but also for the characteristics of different kinds of strategies (trending, RTM, etc). If you like this idea, please drop Ed a note to encourage him. His guess was that it would be pretty easy to implement. Postscript ... Of course it would be even better if we could just have a lot more DL's, with the proviso that they only are updated once a week or once a month. That would reduce the load on the servers (do the updates on the weekends), and would be self-maintaining. I campaigned for this a long time, a couple of years ago, but it didn't seem to get any traction. DL's are IMPORTANT. They are one of the most powerful tools in OmniVest. I'm very supportive of either increasing the dynamic lists or an export or more with less regular updates. Any of Gordon or Jim's suggestions or Ed's suggestions.Yes please Nirvana!

Along these lines, how about a button in the OT TODO list to update OmniVest historical lists? As a user, I would want to be able to specify which OmniScan lists to maintain as "dynamic" Historic Lists in OmniVest, and then let OmniTrader/OmniScan do the rest.

Jon - great solution - I've discussed this with Ed before. It should be readily possible but I think maybe there's not a perception that many people would want it. Certainly would eliminate the need for lists of DL's! Imho, providing for automated weekend updates to HL's based on DL criteria would be effectively as good as daily DL updates, and would not require crucial timing for server resources. Everybody wins!

Yes... We desperately need more than 3 Dynamic Lists. Love DLs! I'm basically on hold with much of my OV development work until this limit is lifted. I love the ideas suggested here to be able to specify WHEN they run (i.e. weekly), which will be attractive to many users AND will lighten server loads. It's a bit chicken and the egg regarding user adoption with this one. If users had this capability and were shown the power/results DLs can provide they'd flock to it. Ed? Thanks, Eric [Edited by Eric Severance on 7/20/2016 4:16 PM]

How about 3 dynamic lists updated daily or 15 dynamic lists updated once each week?

It is my understanding from the Bash that more DL's will be avail for approx $20/mo per DL, but I don't think the price has been formalized yet. Historic Lists will remain unlimited with no extra charge. Thus far, N has declined to provide a DL export button to HL format. Once this all gets formalized, if no export is provided by N, I plan to sell a utility for creating OVest HL's from OT DL's.

I recently noticed that I could buy some additional dynamic lists either in Elite or My Account, but now I can't find that option any more. Does anyone know how to purchase additional dynamic lists?

I found the answer. Click on "My Account" at the top of OV. The 3rd tab is headed "subscriptions", then click on the hyperlink "here" in the line headed "ProMax Dynamic Lists 3. (click here to increase your limit)" |
