Recently Ed memo-ed us that ATM methods could be now be run on OmniVest.
I have been trying, as best I can, to understand how the whole ATM systems work on OmniTrader.
Would someone explain to me the pros' and cons' of working with ATM on OmniVest versus Omnitrader. Should I be moving ATM's to OmniVest ?
Thanks so Much

Great question. Here's my take.
If you have an ATM method you like on OT, but don't want to have to run it locally to trade (manually or with AutoTrader), upload it to OmniVest (assuming you have access) and run it there against your account.
Why?
1) You know OmniVest is running all the time so you don't have to worry about your PC crashing.
2) You have access to the features of OmniVest and can blend ATM in with your other OmniVest portfolios.
3) If you let others subscribe to your ATM method, then you might make some additional cash.
4) If I'm not mistaken, you can enable dynamic lists for use with ATM (something you can't do on OT).
I'm personally using OT as my test bed and trying out different ATM methods with AutoTrader with an eye toward uploading ones that I want to trade for the long term under OmniVest.

Good question!
Pros-
Fully automated independent of power surges, internet glitches etc
Able (maybe) to use OV Dynamic Lists for representative backtesting
Presumably it can be combine in a portfolio, like a Strategy (unclear)
You can offer it for sale as an Elite System if it passes N muster
Cons-
Likely to cost something - though I haven’t been able to get N to tell me how much
Licensing agreement, when read carefully, implies they own it once it’s uploaded
Not easy to tweak for tuning or development without repeated uploads

I think you’re right, Buffalo. And afaik no Autotrade functionality with definable times to kick off a Mkt order, for uploaded ATM’s
I’m not clear about when/if Limit orders work in OVest yet - or in uploaded ATM. I *think* that OVest and uploaded ATM support Mkt orders and MOO … and Mkt orders only kick in during special OVest-scheduled morning processing.
If any of that is wrong, someone please correct me.

It's going to be tied to our strategy upload subscription...
https://www.myomnivest.com/marketing/standingoffers/strategyupload.aspx
But it isn't ready yet as some issues are still being worked out. All the pros & cons that apply to the previous strategy upload will also apply to the ATM method upload (only Market & MOO orders, etc). Uploading one method will count as one uploaded strategy (OV system).

Barry - can we control when the method is processed, e.g. 30 minutes before market close? Or, is it all processing done after market close?

It will all be after market close like all other OmniVest systems.

Barry,
Regarding the above link you added for omnivest. It lists the requirements of updated strategies that says they must be 100% mechanical. Will that be changed for OT2019 Global Optimization (GO) purposes where mechanical strategies are now opting to go optimized for GO purposes?
Thanks,

No, OmniVest still requires mechanical strategies.
