So, it seems like there's really no way to autotrade anything but 1 focus list. I have several accounts that I want to trade - 1 using ATM Micro/Macro, and another using Credit Magic - how do I do this? Using Credit Magic, it seems like there's no way to know what options are being used unless you do use autotrade, and then look in the portfolio to see what traded? Any way to do this? I'd actually like to go see what trades I missed and see if I can enter them late, but that doesn't really seem possible? This all seems really clunky - I end up having to exit 1 autotraded focus list, enter another, force it to autotrade "now" to see what it's going to do, then go back to the real autotraded focus list. Is there a better workflow - and what if I want to add a 3rd account? .....

I think I understand what you are looking to accomplish -- you have 2 accounts and want to be able to auto trade different methods -- one for each account. I currently have multiple accounts at GXT. One account I use Auto Trade to trade the ATM Macro/Micro method. The other one I trade using Auto Trade using a heavily modified derivative of ATM MM. You are right, one instance of OT can only auto trade effectively 1 account. My solution is to run multiple instances of OT - each instance set up to trade against a specific account. You can do this in a variety of ways. Some people use the cloud (Amazon, Azure, other). Some people use multiple laptops/desktops. Others have used VMware, VirtualBox, Hyper-V or KVM to provide a local virtual machine. The best answer is to stick with what you are comfortable managing. For me, I use a set of virtual machines. One to trade the ATM M/M, one to trade my derivative, and one that I manually trade with. I also use virtual machines to conduct testing and research (create and destroy the virtual machines as needed). Once the machine is set up, I just let it run and trade. Does that help? Jeff is correct, thanks! Additionally, if you're looking to trade Credit Magic without using AutoTrade, are you wanting to trade into a different broker account or a different paper account? AutoTrade is ideal. If you don't use AutoTrade, it's more difficult. To find the strikes it wants to trade, you either have to use AutoTrade or manually drop the chevron down on a stock to be traded using the Credit Magic trade plan. At the top of the trade plan interface it will tell you what options you are about to trade without submitting it.

Thanks - this is helpful - I can setup multiple VMs to do what I need - but I'd also like to understand the chevron method - I've never figured out how to make it use the correct trade plan?

OK, I think I figured out how to do it - seems a bit convoluted - given that the strategy is the "Credit Magic" strategy - is there a way to make it so that just pulling down the Chevron does the right thing rather than having to go into "Trade Plan" and choose "Opt Credit Magic" every time?

Has anybody played with Docker for Windows to do this rather than a full VM? Seems like it would be more efficient, but I haven't tried using Dockers under windows yet (just Linux)....

I explored it, but never went beyond reading and collecting opinions. The predominant opinion I found was that for a gui based desktop application (OT), the installation location of the application, and the corresponding complex windows registry, the administration of the Docker image would be excessive if not impractical. I looked again a few months ago and got the same answer -- didn't find anyone brave enough to put a VB.NET GUI app in Docker yet. I've seen Android Studio (a java based application) placed in Docker and run as a GUI app. But that was on a Linux or Mac where they exported the display. For VB.NET to work in Docker, it would have to be on a Windows host for now. I don't think Docker is ready yet to handle the intricacies. For now, the only answer I've seen is to virtualize the full OS instance and install OT on top of it. Maybe some day, we will have a Docker solution, but I think the focus is datacenter deployment of GUI-less apps that serve functionality and data to some other device.

Makes sense given what Docker does - thanks!

Yes. Open any trade interface by dropping a chevron down. Click Settings at the top & select Trade Plan for your default interface. Under Edit/Trade Plans, you can either set your default to OPT Credit Magic, or it will automatically use the trade plan from the strategy if the option to do so is enabled at the bottom of Edit/Trade Plans & you have a current signal. Finally the trade size will need to be configured. After you drop any chevron down, click the Trade Calculator. At the bottom set the Manual Size to 1% & also select round to 100 shares or contract. That way it should be pretty close to AutoTrade's trade sizes.

I too would like to trade Credit Magic in a different Brokerage account. I also travel, and would like to know if there are any plans to have AutoTrade email the current log (to get the orders without having to sign in remotely) Or is there a good way to sync a profile, symbol list, strategies, ect. between 2 machines? Thanks Barry

There is no way to sync files between 2 machines. There aren't current plans for an email, but we can discuss it. I think it's a good idea.

Aaron, I find that if I want to make a new OT instance the same as a previous one, I can copy the Profile and Strategies over to the new OT machine. If I created a Trade Plan, I'll copy that too. Occasionally, I'll create a special OmniLanguage Indicator that I'll have to copy over too. And I just need to make sure that I have all the same plugins installed on both OT instances and I run the updater to update them to the same level. That usually works to make the 2 instances the same. But since I trade each against a different brokerage account, I never sync them after that point. I'll update the software consistently between the 2 but I never have any real reason to synchronize anything else. Hope that helps, Jeff

Thanks Jeff and Barry. Jeff, I'll try that. I thinks that's what I'm going to do; when I get my "last" test completed. |
