Does anyone know where to get reliable historical data for crypto currencies? Is this something that OT is contemplating?

We need crypto's in OT and VT badly.
I've been going crazy looking at the simple setups everywhere on Crypto charts AND I CAN'T USE MY TOOLS!!!!

There is a compatible 3rd party OT compatible feed coming online within a month (no idea on pricing), but it would be so much better if native from Nirvana. It's been awhile so I'm guessing Omniscan only works with Nirvana native data (that would be HUGE on Crypto's).

So the good news is yes there will be data soon (IQfeed).
There is a waiting list (I'm on it already), so I would contact them and get on it.

I really hope Nirvana gets on this bandwagon soon. None of the big providers is doing jack in this space, and OT/VT would be running unopposed ... they could run the table!!!

Bad news..... IQfeed's Omnitrader compatible Crypto feed could be another 3 months.

Super terrible news (was on the horn with the sales person today).
Don't know why the estimated release has been delayed, but it has.

Was really looking forward to firing up Omnitrader again and buying updates to all my plugins.

Well, end of the year is better than never....

I've been an avid user and promoter of Omnitrader since 2008. Quite a few of my fellow traders have purchased OT because I was using it. Abt three months ago I switched to trading cryptocurrency pairs and because Omnitrader is not supporting this new market have now ceased using and promoting it to anyone. I'll of course be watching this area if OT do change their stand on it, but somehow I don't think it will be soon. cheers

Still waiting for that Crypto feed to come online.... I've been told some good progress has been made but it's still not ready.

Maybe by the end of the year, but I suspect sometime January.

Barry,

As of this date, what are you planning for crypto trading? We need some clarity on your plans to support this important market.

Thanks,

Wynn

I have not looked at cryptos but I am told the spread is so large that they are not that good for shorter time trading check it out for yourself

We have nothing planned at this time. If another data service, like IQ Feed, provides data, I would assume that the new symbols would provide charts as normal in our software. If & when that happens, whether we will need specific functionality or extra coding, like there is for futures or forex, to accommodate them is unknown.

Thanks for the reply.

I sure would like to see Nirvana move this up your priority list. This entire category is gaining in importance about as fast a the price of Bitcoin.

This category is so much more than Bitcoin. There are over 1200 Alt-Coins out there. IMO, most of the people that are buying these ICO's are just throwing money at them, without regard for technical analysis and proper Trading Setups. There's a lot of money go be made, if done well.

I'd like Nirvana to get out in front of this category. Please bring this to Ed's attention. I'd think Nirvana would really benefit its customers and itself by getting this sorted out, put together a Trading Strategy, put together education classes similar to what Ed did with Options and present it at BASH this summer. It's doable, but someone in your organization will need to move it up the priority list. This is HOT stuff. John Carter's organization is way out in front of this in terms of knowledge and trader education. But, they don't do software and they don't have a large group of loyal customers who use their software like Nirvana does.

I'm enrolled in Carter's SimplerCrypto group and doing my best to learn as much as I can about this catagory. I'd be happy to help Nirvana as things progress, limited, of course, to Carter's proprietary methods.

Kind regards,

Wynn

Just watched the CBOE CEO on CNBC just now, stating that Bitcoin futures will start trading at 5pm EST this coming Sunday (Dec 10th). This means you'll be able to trade it on the OT/VT platforms through the Metastock XENITH plugin for instance...

Yes, that's true. But, I don't want to trade futures. I want to buy/sell Cryptos. To do that, we need to see charts. And, Nirvana is my charting platform. Therefore, I want to see and chart them in OT and VT. That's Nirvana's wheelhouse and I think they need to get in the game, IMO.

Why would I want to use Metastock when I have OT/VT?

All I can say is this is the most important market by far.
Making 25% gains each week (and sometimes 25% in a day), and that's without OT/VT..... drives me crazy how much better it'd be with the right tools.

Oh, an update on the IQfeed..... they were waiting for the bitcoin futures feed to go online before rolling out the Crypto feed.... so we're really close now.

Com'om Nirvana..... don't miss the boat on this one. We need Crypto-trader on OT/VT..... this is THE BEST market, it makes Options look like junk (and I used to only trade option on leveraged securities).
All the movement without the premium burn... it's beautiful.

Figured I'd update this tread on the IqFeed Crypto-Feed....

Seems they have abandoned the project. No Crypto-Feed in their pipeline now.
Such a waste. 9 months of asking for updates and now nothing in the works. Seems they put in BTC and called it a day. Pathetic.

I have tons of OT plugins and nothing to use them with. Not going back to stocks and options.

Com'on Nirvana, give us a cypto feed direct to Bittrex. They even give the data away for free!!! You could charge for something that's free!!!

Thanks for calling attention to this Daddybird. You've opened my eyes. I'm doing a crypto course online now and this is a whole new world I have overlooked.

Daddybird,

What makes Cryptos so good for trading over stocks/options? I'm more of a futures trader which, depending on the market, can produce some descent trading trends. I know nothing about trading cryptos. If anything, the negative news about them have keep me away.

Never deep-dived into trading crypto, but very interesting (been using for years as a alt currency for retail - never traded), Suspect of something some feed provider walks away from, as you stated above.

Some questions arise for me on basics for crypto trading:
- are they easy to enter/exit (slippage)
- are they cost efficient? e.g. what symbols brokers offers? What is the per trade cost? I know moving between USD and Bitcoin is a VERY expensive and can be a tedious process.

The volatility on crypto looks awesome and consistent for trading. However, as I often find, paper trading may look great...but. Interested in anyone's experience with real trades.

Thanks,

The platform I have been playing with is called Bitshares. It is a decentralized exchange which offers bitcoin, etherium, dash, steem, ETC. They also have USD, USDt, CNY, RUBLE, Gold & Silver. Fees are quoted in BTS which is the native coin and are pretty reasonable( .05789 BTS which is approximately 2 cents). Placing orders is very cumbersome but the major problem with this site at the moment is liquidity. Even orders placed at the market are not always filled immediately. Their charting package is not up to OT's standards either but they are 100% hassle free.

NOTE: I have less than $100 invested with bitshares with no plans to
invest more until I am certain I know where all of the pitfalls are.
Decentralized exchanges are the Wild Wild West of Crypto trading.
