When I try to plot any NSE India Index symbol like ".NSEI", ".NIFTY500" etc I get the following error messages:

Please note that these symbols continue to collect correct OHLC data as can be seen in the Focus List. The error occurs only when I try to plot them.

Stocks symbols plots just fine without any error. I suspect the Index error might be due to their symbols starting with a dot. It's only a wild guess.

I tried plotting these same Index symbols in VT-12 and I didn't encounter any problem there.

Have they worked before? It's possible this is related to starting with a dot, but it's hard to say. It may also be something being plotted on the charts, in which case you could try a different chart template. Can you provide a sample of data?

Barry,

Earlier I was using eSignal, so I can't say whether they worked before or not. I tried different Chart Templates but every time I got these errors. I want to add here is that even after errors, OT was able to plot the charts.

This issue is still present in OT-2023. On closer scrutiny I found that:

1. The underlying reason for these errors with Index symbols seems to be the “Volume” or any Indicator based on volume. Since Index symbols don’t have any volume data, it seems to be causing these errors.

2. I tried many different Chart Templates including “Standard” but kept on getting these errors until I removed “Volume” after which these errors disappeared.

3. These errors occurs only during live market when new data keeps on coming and not when the markets are closed and there is no live streaming data.
