Is there any way to use the new MarketScans in OT 2012, or any update coming to make it so?

MarketScans has been available as a separate product for about 2 years. OT2013 provides integration features with it that OT2012 does not have. OT2012 is past its development cycle now, so I don't suspect that the NEW features of 2013 will be retroactively applied to 2012.

You can use MS independently with OT2012 but not in the same interlinked fashion.

Just for the record, I tried OT 2013 and had so much trouble with it and tech support was unable to fix it, so I returned it. Hence, I am still using OT 2012. I do have VT 10 as well as lots and lots of previous versions of VT and OT.

Jim, I appreciate that you do so much on this Forum, helping people. This wasn't helpful, nor yours either Barry, although you usually are!

Maybe this will help -

If you want market scans with OT20xx, just subscribe to MarketScans as an independent product. I used it for two years just fine.

Yes OT13 was less stable when it came it out than prior years were when they came out. Lots of good reasons for that. Much of that has been fixed now - I suggest you give it another 30-day free trial - but keep your 2012 active on the same machine just in case. That is what I've been doing. 2013 has some really cool new stuff - DSS is a major MAJOR improvement - I just learned more about it at the Bash last weekend.

I've provided explanatory posts several times in the past regarding how N's "release cycles" work. Bottom line - OT is always a "work in progress". The most stable versions of it are near the end of each yearly cycle.

So if you want stability then DON'T expect to play with all the shiny new features right away.

Regarding free upgrades to prior years' versions to add features in new versions - REALITY CHECK - if Nirvana did that they would go broke quickly. None of us wants that!

Thanks, Jim, that is more helpful, particularly that you affirm the problems with OT 2013 and that you find useful new features in it.

But, look, I don't need a sermon, your explanatory notes on release cycles -- I've read your past posts on that subject, and I am fully aware of the deal, and I've done my part to support Nirvana over many years, including giving help to others on this forum too. I want Nirvana to continue to exist and be successful too. I've invested a lot in it over the years, and I still find VT and OT to be unique in my experience. (I use ThinkorSwim every day, I've tried Investools, and many others.)

I wasn't asking for any free upgrades; I think I recall that for major new features (or error corrections), sometimes Nirvana does provide some capability in the previous version, of if not, I hoped that someone would point out something I didn't know that would be useful with MarketScans in OT 2012 while I wait for OT 2014. You could have done that, I am sure. I spent a whole lot of time trying to make OT 2013 work and I'm not about to go back there now.

I am currently on the three month trial with MarketScans that was part of the deal with buying VT 10. I am keeping VT 10, although I find it runs slower than VT 9 and is less stable, so I'm using it for limited purposes associated with MS. I haven't decided yet whether to subscribe and continue with MarketScans. I searched the entire Forum for comments on MS, and didn't find much, at least in the last 90 days.

You could help me and others with some tips from your two years of experience with MS.

Just remember, there are "no stupid questions, just . . . "!

Pat
