Subject : Pencil TC2xxx problem revisited for OT2006

Earlier I posted, on an OT2008 forum, this problem (see Post #14523).

I am also experiencing this problem within OT2006.

The problem involves trying to get a focus list filled from TC2007 (Worden). I get error messages continuously which require me to end-task on OT2006.

Barry Cohen replied to the post on the OT2008 forum (Post #14527 - In reply to #14523) as follows:
"The disappearing list is an issue that we recently have been able to duplicate. It has not been corrected yet, but I believe it will be fixed & available when 3G is released. I'm sorry, but I don't have a date for when it will be available. It may be a couple weeks or longer."
===***===
Since I am now experiencing this problem on both OT2008 and OT2006 I am posting this problem here as well.
QUESTIONS:
1- Since the problems appear to be VERY similar, is there some kind of relationship?
2- Is there a plan to fix this for OT2006 (if so, when)?

I don't believe the issue is related to that previous post. The issue I was referring to does not provide an error. It is an issue in OT2006 as well though. So what is the error you're getting? When does it occur? Can you post the OT.log file from the C:\Program Files\Nirvana\OT2006 folder?

Bugs fixed in OT2008 are not always corrected in earlier versions, so I cannot say if it will be fixed in OT2006 or not.

I shall try attaching ot.log to this forum (per checkbox below) or send via email. Filename is "OT BRUCEH60 5-19.LOG"
I just tried getting a list out of TC2007. I first did the first five symbols; those went ok. When I tried getting the rest of the list I got errors:
3163 (routing 766)
after clicking on these for quite a while I got
error 9
and, after many clicks, ended up ending task on OT2006.

I see, Bruce, thanks. This was a reported issue that did get fixed in OT2008, so if your OT2008 exhibits this behavior please run your updater. OT2006 still has this error importing more than 14 symbols at a time. Sometimes you will be able to click past the errors & just continue working from there.

Thanks for the info; I didn't know about the limit of "14".

I know that, since I buying OT2006 and up until recently, I had been able to import some pretty large lists of symbols without difficulty.
This seems to be a pretty incovenient glitch.
Is there a plan to "fix" OT2006?

Bugs fixed in OT2008 are not always corrected in earlier versions, so I cannot say if it will be fixed in OT2006 or not. It isn't likely though. Is there a reason why you need OT2006 instead of your OT2008?

Well, I suppose it is inertia. The main 'reason' is that, with OT2006, I have canned strategies (Default, primarily) which give me signals I can understand AND which have yielded profitable results over the past many years.
I've been buying many of your program's upgrades over the years. Heretofore I've been able to successfully emulate on the new version what I'd been used to seeing on the version being replaced.
Admittedly, I haven't labored through all the OT2008 tutorials yet.
Although I've been 'using' OT2008 for a few months, I haven't yet found an strategy setting in that which will give me signals ESSENTIALLY IDENTICAL to what I get with OT2006. Until I can see OT2008 and OT2006 side-by-side giving me 'roughly' the same results for the same set of symbols, I don't feel very comfortable dropping OT2006. Once I achieve this milestone I'll be happy to switch completely to OT2008.
Is there a way for me to set up OT2008 to achieve what I'm looking for?

Bruce, open OT2008. Then click Tools -> Import Prior Settings. Restart OT2008 & it will allow you import your OT2006 strategies & other things. But you mainly want the strategies, at least what I gather from your description. You may want the profiles too. Then you can open your profiles & strategies that you're used to & run them as normal.

The results you get should be similar or better, but likely will not be exactly the same. This is due to program changes & enhancements between versions.
