Getting Error -2146232832: Cannot open database 'INSERT INTO [FocusList_All Strategies_2_1] (Symbol, Country, ExchangeName, Type) VALUES ('OGS', 'US', 'NYSE', 1)'. It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt. Occurred in routine 2486 - modTask.bas .PerformSymbolTasks I have already been in touch with technical support several times (Scott and Nathan). We ran the repair database function on Stock.otd but the error kept coming back. I completely removed all programs files (OmniScan, Nirvana RT Data and OT2020. I went into the Program Files x86 and Program Data folders and deleted the folders that were left behind and restarted. Scott from technical support sent me a checklist to reinstall which I followed. Once everything was done, I ran the ToDo list and the errors came back again. I haven't been able to use this software for over 4 weeks. Please give me a solutions so I can get back on track. Thanks. Might be wise to confirm that your Microsoft Framework engine is up to date and not corrupted. Maybe uninstall and reinstall.

I was getting some persistent errors too but Barry eventually figured it out. Assuming you're using windows, and I don't know if this will do anything for you, but given you have nothing working and it might I thought I'd let you know: "Bill, I'm seeing evidence that this error may be a result of a bad Windows update released on April 14, titled KB4549951. Googling that update reveals others are having problems with that update. You started this thread on April 16. I wonder if you can check to see if you have that installed & perhaps you could try uninstalling it. •Go to Settings and click “Update and Security.” •Choose “Windows Update” and open “View update history.” •Click “Uninstall updates.” •Locate the update and uninstall it. •Lastly, Reboot your device. ----- Barry Cohen QA Specialist/Customer Service Nirvana Systems" If this works be advised MS will constantly reinstall this update. And I mean constantly. Tried many ways to turn win update off but it's not easy. I used this to stop windows updates. It works: https://www.wintips.org/how-to-turn-off-windows-10-updates-permanently/

Probably not the best idea to turn off updates as some of them are security updates. I also do not have that K4549951 on my computer. I am running the latest Windows 10 update 1909 which has Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 built in. No way to downgrade. 1909 is the May update which has been extended until October but all Microsoft users will have to install it. Checking on that update looks like there was a security fix to the Jet Database Engine. It really should be looked at by the development team to come up with a fix. I did some experimenting and I was able to get the To Do list to run. By switching from Run Analysis to "As Needed" instead of "Forced for all symbols", I was able to get it to completion using All Optionable US Stocks & ETFs. I have included the OT file and a screen shot of the To Do List. ![]() ![]()

Jim (aka sneakers007): The advice posted by BBill is a temporary solution to your error. I also have had this error, and backed out Windows maintenance to solve the problem (email conversations with Barry between 4/20 and 4/27). Today, I (re)applied current Windows maintenance to a VM and confirmed that the problem is still there with current Windows maintenance installed. On my VM, I (re)applied KB4549951 and after it was installed, I installed KB4550945 (most recent update). I then recreated the error (different error number than you, but the text of the message was otherwise the same - and easily recreated when running analysis multiple times with "Forced" selected). If you have KB4550945 installed, then KB4549951 no longer shows in your installed list (see snapshot below - taken during uninstall of KB4550945). If you can uninstall KB4550945, then I expect you will see KB4549951 appear as your most recent installed maintenance (at least that's what I see after uninstalling KB4550945). Then hopefully, you can either uninstall KB4549951, or perhaps you have a backup from early April (prior to the KB4549951 update). Hopefully somebody (Microsoft or Nirvana) will fix this. I agree with you, we can't put off Windows maintenance forever. [Edited by SteveL on 5/9/2020 4:02 PM] ![]()

Well if Win10 updates break programs you really want to use what are you supposed to do? MS is the one who choose to take ANY flexibility the user has to choose not only what updates to install but even when. Your call - OT working fine or Win10 updates. If MS let me skip that update then fine but they don't [Edited by Buffalo Bill on 5/9/2020 6:37 PM]

We are hoping to get a fix for KB4549951, but I don't know when we will have one available yet.

Has PR-2L fixed this issue? I haven't updated my Windows-10 installation since 2 months to avoid these kinds of problems.

2L does not fix it, but we're testing a fix & hope to have 2M out this week that addresses it.

Unfortunately, this still does not fix the issue. See attached dialog box with errors. Jim ![]() ![]()

Jim, how many strategies are you running? Also are you running more than one list or just the My Symbols list? How many timeframes?

We have confirmation that Microsoft is aware of the issue & are working on a fix. No ETA though.

Barry, Here is what I have in my To Do List (Actions, Strategies and Test Settings). Not sure what you mean about time frames. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Click Edit/Data Periods & make a screenshot of that please, also click the Pencil icon, make sure OmniScan is the data source, & screenshot that as well, with as many enabled lists, if any, that you can fit.

I have attached what you have requested. As far as time periods it is default. No changes. OmniScan is the default and I have only one list selected. Nothing else. ![]() ![]()

Thanks, please try these steps: 1. Open OT. 2. Create a new profile (File/New). 3. Click Tools -> Repair Database. 4. Click Profile Databases. 5. Select your Stocks profile. 6. After it's repaired, use Windows Explorer to browse to ...\Nirvana\OT2020\Profiles 7. Find that Stocks profile (Stocks.otp) & let me know the size of the file. 8. Back in OT, open your STocks profile & see if you can still reproduce the error. If the error occurs again, check the size of the profile when the error occurs & let me know what it is.

Barry, Want to make sure I am doing this correctly. I am selecting the previous Stock.otp file to do the repair on or the new one called Test.otp that I created in step 2? Let me know. Thanks.

Correct. The repair tool does not work if the file you want to repair is open, so that's why it's necessary to open a different profile first.

Barry, I did everything you requested and posted a pdf with screen shots of everything that I did. The program continues to error out. Not good. ![]()

This error is a result of a bad Windows update released on April 14 that affects how Access database files are stored & managed. Other companies are having issues as well, not just Nirvana. Microsoft technicians have confirmed that this is a known issue and are currently working on a fix. Unfortunately they do not have an ETA yet, although the fix will be released as soon as possible. You mentioned that you don't have Windows Update KB4549951 installed. Can you check if you have KB4549949? That one may be another one that causes it, but gets installed on a different version on Windows 10. Here are some things to try in OT that could possibly help... - In your ToDo List, change "All OmniScan Lists" to Selected lists in this profile." - In your ToDo List, change "Forced for all symbols" to "As Needed." - In your ToDo List, disable Run Portfolio simulation." - Under Edit/Patterns disable patterns if you are not using them. - Create a new profile (File/New), enable your 6 strategies & your Optionable Stocks OmniScan list. Then see if the issue occurs again - if the filesize of the profile rapidly increases, you'll know that it's still a problem. If it doesn't rapidly increase then the profile should not get even remotely close to 2GB & the error will not occur allowing you to continue using this new profile. |
